After about a two-hour drive from Tokyo, we arrived safely at our destination, the campground. We immediately set about setting up our campsite.

The "Grand Kangoo" has been redesigned with a longer rear end and a more spacious body than the standard "Kangoo." At first glance, the changes may not be immediately apparent, but when you start unloading your cargo, you’ll be amazed by the sheer amount of space.

“Even while driving, it didn't feel that big. I felt confident even on the narrow streets in residential areas. But the interior is a different story—it's roomier than I expected. As I mentioned earlier, I had always imagined it as a car that could ”carry people,' but it's exceeded my expectations in a good way."

Here’s all the gear we actually loaded up. It’s impressive enough that we managed to fit three bikes, but I’m also amazed that we managed to fit a full set of camping gear as well.

"It was fun stacking the luggage like a puzzle. There was even space in the gaps between the bikes, so it’s really amazing to think there’s still room to spare. The Grand Kangoo really lives up to its reputation."

With the setup complete, he takes a moment to relax with a cup of coffee. Mr. Katsuyama, a veteran camper with about 20 years of experience, can easily set up even a large tarp all by himself.

"I've been into the outdoors since high school—we used to have barbecues and stuff. It was a natural progression from there that I bought a tent, and I just got more and more into it."

"Rather than just enjoying the camping itself," he says, "I find it fun to go for drives, visit the local supermarket near the campground, and get insider tips from the locals."

"The reason I brought my bike this time was that I wanted to take a leisurely ride around the campground. Camping isn’t the goal—it’s just a means to an end. I like to add a little something extra to the experience and have some fun."

So, after giving my bike a thorough tune-up, I’m off for a ride. A bike tour surrounded by nature is sure to be a delightful experience.
