"We want to create material that makes us laugh. That’s the best," says Reiji. Backstage, the two of them are watching a video of the routine they’ll be performing that day to review it, laughing out loud. That scene is proof enough of that. And they really are close, even backstage.
Zero:When it comes to the comedy routines we do, moments like this are actually pretty important, in a way. It’s not like we’re doing it on purpose—we’re just always like this together.
Yamaguchi:It’s not like I’m trying to show off how close we are.
Zero:It’s just that people have started noticing me now. It’s just that more people are paying attention—but I’ve been doing this for a long time. Nothing’s really changed.
He’s well-liked by other comedians, and plenty of them drop by the green room to chat. It’s true—with such a great atmosphere in the green room, it’s easy to see how anyone would feel drawn in.
Zero:They tease me even though I’m their junior. It’s become a bit of a pattern where they team up with Yamaguchi to pick on me.
Yamaguchi:Also, we really love comedians.
Zero:Yeah, that’s right. That’s why I want to talk to them. When I think that maybe they’re thinking the same things we are, I just end up feeling like we’re kind of like friends.
