Black fashion models are now a common sight. A film focusing on the pioneers of this movement revealed the stories of people who struggled behind the glitzy scenes. It was a special opportunity to gain insight into a world I hadn’t known before.

MM6 Maison Margiela Hoodie
Memories overflowing.
Looking back, when I first moved to Tokyo, I used to go to Nakameguro, Daikanyama, and Ebisu quite often. I’d go window-shopping, peeking into stores like *Number Nine*, *TMT*, and *Balance Wear Design*, as well as vintage shops and the select shop “Lift.” Since I have eclectic taste in fashion, I loved walking around this area and checking out all sorts of things. Among them, the *Martin Margiela* store stood out as something truly unique. It was located in a detached house set back from Komazawa-dori in Ebisu at the time, and I still vividly remember being taken aback by the white-painted building and the sales staff dressed in white lab coats. Later, the brand’s store moved to a nearby location that used to be a factory. It currently operates there as “Maison Margiela Tokyo,” but when I visited the other day for the first time in a while, I was surprised to hear from a shop staff member that it had been exactly 20 years since the move. Has it really been that long? While marveling at how quickly time flies, I picked up an MM6 Maison Margiela hoodie inside the store. I really liked the design—it’s reversible, with retro lettering printed on one side and an embroidered numeric logo on the other. I heard the lettering graphic was inspired by the lettering applied to mannequins in Margiela’s archives. As I looked at this piece, memories from the past—ones that had been dormant deep within me—came flooding back.

Ray-Ban Meta
Ray-Ban Meta Aviator
Masterpieces on AI Glasses.
The other day, I attended a “Ray-Ban Meta” lunch event. There, I checked out the “Aviator”—a new model introduced with the latest Gen 3 (third-generation) lineup. The “Aviator” is, after all, one of Ray-Ban’s most iconic sunglasses, famous for its teardrop-shaped lenses that cover the eyes and its slim metal frame and temples. When I first heard about it, I couldn’t quite picture this iconic shape combined with AI glasses, but seeing the actual product made it all make sense. They’re modern and stylish, and I thought they’d be easier to incorporate into fashion than previous models. Plus, the camera lens attached to the frame is smaller than on previous “Ray-Ban Meta” models, making them lighter and more comfortable to wear—a definite plus. Battery life has been extended to a maximum of 9 hours. It’s great that you can talk to the built-in “Meta AI” to do all sorts of things hands-free—not just taking photos and videos, but also shooting hyperlapse (time-lapse) and slow-motion footage, playing music, and even live translation.

HAMILTON
Hamilton watches
A Glimpse of Life 100 Years Ago.
At Fuinam, we’ve frequently featured Hamilton’s “Khaki Field” and “Ventura” models. The former is a round-case watch inspired by military timepieces, while the latter is famous for its avant-garde triangular case—and for being worn by Elvis Presley. Joining the ranks of these iconic models is the new “Cushion Mecha,” released this past October. As you can see, the case features a square shape that’s puffed out like a cushion. This shape was first created 100 years ago. This model revives a heritage that had lain dormant for a quarter-century. One of its charms lies in the compact size of the case, with the lineup featuring 34mm and 30mm models. The watch pictured here is the 30mm version, which can be worn as effortlessly as a bracelet. While models with Arabic numerals are also available, my personal favorite is the Roman numeral version. I was drawn to its simple, understated appearance. What’s more, it’s impressive that they developed a movement specifically to fit the case size. The fact that it’s hand-wound also reflects Hamilton’s pride. The story behind the creation of the “Cushion Mecha” is,This articlePlease take a look. We sat down for an in-depth interview with Francesca Ginocchio, CEO of “Hamilton International,” who is currently visiting Japan.

A brochure from a flower shop.
In a review of a certain mix CD, there was a passage that really caught my attention—it mentioned a guest contribution by a certain rapper. A few days later, I went out of my way to get a copy of the booklet in which that piece was published. I was deeply moved by the writing, which truly reflected his personality, so—though I know it might be presumptuous—I sent the rapper an email sharing my thoughts. I find great fulfillment in these moments when dots like this connect.
RWCHE
Roach's Nylon Hoodie
Thinnest and lightest.
Even though I’m the type who prefers cold weather to heat, my spirits really drop when it gets too cold to handle in the clothes I’m wearing while out and about. I tend to feel this most often when I’m leaving a bar after a night out, or when I’m heading home from a club in the early morning. Hoping it would solve this problem, I ordered a nylon hoodie from at a trade show. I’m not exactly an expert on outdoor gear or sportswear, but based on what I’ve seen and handled so far, this is the thinnest and lightest one I’ve come across. Hiding the logo within the camo pattern is typical of this brand, and the fact that there’s a smaller pocket inside the front pocket eliminates that annoying bulk that often comes from carrying a smartphone. It runs slightly larger than the size chart indicates; for me—standing 177 cm tall and weighing 70 kg (as of October 16)—size M fits perfectly when worn over a long-sleeve T-shirt. By the way, “Kiosco” in Koenji—the flagship store for —has started carrying the famous this fall! You won’t want to miss that either.

Diaspora Skateboards
Diaspora Skateboz Zip-Up Hoodie
This year, I'm in the mood for hoodies.
Don't you ever find yourself in one of two moods—either wanting something with a hood or without one? Last year it was sweatshirts, but this year I’m in the mood for hoodies. For some reason, I just feel like wearing hooded pieces this fall and winter. One reason for that might be that I spotted a one-piece hooded jacket made from checkered corduroy at *Diaspora Skateboz*. It features a cropped length, a drawcord at the hem, and large patch pockets inspired by the denim pro-over shirts adopted by the U.S. Army from the 1910s to the 1940s. Even though it’s corduroy, it feels as soft and comfortable as a shirt—which is fantastic. Looking at the brand’s Instagram, the looks worn by the female models look great, and in addition to blue-based shades, brown-based colors are also available. Given its skateboarding roots, the relaxed silhouette is another key feature. I plan to trim the hood drawstring a bit shorter and add a cord stopper before wearing it.

ZEPTEPI
Zeptepi Knitwear
More than a thermal, but less than a knit.
In the fall and winter, I’m the type who wants to wear knitwear as much as possible. The reason is that it’s simple and warm, and I feel like it makes me look like a put-together adult. One of the defining features of knitwear is the wide variety of materials, knitting techniques, and styles available; up until now, I’ve tended to choose cardigans or crew-neck sweaters, mainly made of mohair. I picked up this piece at the exhibition. It’s designed not only as a standard lightweight knit but also as a mid-layer to wear over a base layer and under a sweatshirt. The textured knit enhances moisture retention, and the ribbed cuffs even feature thumbholes to protect the backs of your hands and wrists from the cold. It’s impossible not to be drawn to details like these, and I’m absolutely delighted to see the signature style of Ryo, the designer behind . The fabric is 100% wool, and the color is charcoal gray. With a look and functionality that perfectly embody the “simple is best” philosophy, you’ll want to grab this from your closet first thing on a cold morning—without a second thought—to warm yourself up.

The Best Movies of 2026.
Of all the movies I’ve seen so far, “We Are Aliens” is currently my favorite. Judging by the poster, I thought it would be a heartwarming, “My Summer Vacation”-style film, but it pleasantly defied my expectations. People in their early 30s, in particular, are sure to be taken back to their elementary school days. You definitely have to see this one in theaters.
SILAS
Cyrus's Blouson
Fuinam Color.
One of the items I can’t help but collect is the stand-collar zip-up blouson—the style epitomized by the Harrington jacket. I’ve always had a soft spot for this kind of outerwear, and I found one at *Cyrus*. It has that UK vibe—a piece that’s unassuming in the best possible way. It’s called the “New Liner.” It’s a quilted bomber jacket from the “Archive Series,” which reissues classic pieces from the ’90s and ’00s. Its standout feature is, without a doubt, its reversible design: one side is a basic navy, while the other is a vibrant red with a quilted finish. While this is a common feature in outdoor wear, what I love about is its minimalist aesthetic—completely free of logos or graphics. Plus, it offers practical features that aren’t overly flashy but are still useful, like the rare drawcords on the sleeves and the newly positioned seam pockets on the quilted side. Incidentally, this navy/red colorway was actually color-directed by Fuinam. For more details,Recently published articleCheck out the

IMPRESTORE
Down Jackets at ImpreStore
A duck print that symbolizes a wish for peace.
When it comes to choosing winter outerwear, camouflage patterns—especially Woodland Camo—are timeless classics, but the tricky part is that one wrong move can make the look feel too military-inspired. The down jacket from effortlessly and playfully dispels that concern. The body draws inspiration from early ’90s East Coast-style pieces. Packed with a generous 250g of down, it recreates the voluminous silhouette characteristic of down jackets from the good old days. The inside of the detachable hood is lined with fleece, providing excellent warmth. The authentic craftsmanship—including an inner wind guard to block cold air from the hem and a total of eight pockets—is simply irresistible. However, its greatest appeal lies in the original “W.A.T.W CAMO” pattern. From a distance, it looks like ordinary camouflage, but if you look closely, you’ll find ladybugs—symbols of peace—and world maps hidden throughout. It even has a playful touch, with silhouettes of various figures from the 1980s charity movement lurking here and there. You’ll have to see the real thing to appreciate it. A pattern originally designed to provide concealment on the battlefield is now infused with wishes for peace and a love of culture. It’s earnest, but never too serious. It’s a piece that warms both your heart and your practical needs.

SUICOKE
Suicock Boots
Winter—a time to give my sneakers a break.
I’ve never really been a fan of that glossy sheen that’s so characteristic of boots. It always felt like my feet were looking a bit too put-together—or maybe just a bit too much for my personal style—so I never really took the plunge. But when I saw this pair from *Suicock*, I instinctively thought, “These are the ones.” Why was I drawn to them? Looking at them again and comparing them to ordinary boots, I think the difference lies in their relaxed, effortless feel. They don’t have a sleek, dressy silhouette—instead, they have a charming, rounded shape. And above all, I think the reason they’re so easy to wear is the balance between the matte, warm cow suede upper and the flat, sneaker-like sole. The interior features a waterproof and breathable SUICOKE SHERPA lining, keeping your feet comfortable even in harsh winter weather. Furthermore, the combination of an insole with a grain leather surface and the lightweight, highly cushioned, and abrasion-resistant Vibram MORFLEX compound completely eliminates the heaviness and stiffness often associated with boots. They may look understated, but they’re packed with reliable, high-performance features. Thanks to this exceptional pair—which effortlessly lowers the high bar for boots—I think I’ll be giving my sneakers a little break this winter.

Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon.
The “Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon” was held on Sunday, October 18. I participated as a runner again this year. Running under a clear blue sky feels absolutely amazing! My time was 1 hour and 54 minutes. During races, I always end up thinking about nothing but the beer I’ll drink afterward. Oh well.

This Is Never That × SURPLUS RESEARCH Shell Jacket
If it looks cool in GORE-TEX®︎, it's the best.
We had a string of rainy days last month, didn’t we? I couldn’t schedule any location shoots—that was the biggest problem. Another issue was what to wear. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, it rained every single day in September, and it was tough choosing outfits while worrying about getting soaked every day… That’s when GORE-TEX® clothing really came in handy. Recently, I’ve had my eye on jackets from *This Is Never That* and *Surplus Research* that use GORE-TEX® 3-layer fabric. The lines running across the front and sleeves, as well as the logo on the back, look like design elements at first glance, but they’re actually reflective strips that glow quite brightly, ensuring safety even in dark places. The bold “GORE-TEX” lettering also works surprisingly well with this design. It’s a really interesting jacket that perfectly embodies ’s functional beauty and playful spirit. Unfortunately, it seems to have sold out immediately after its release… I’m looking forward to a second run!

Reformed Denim
Rugged and Refined.
Denim makes up the majority of my bottoms, and I feel like I wear them at least three times a week. My newest addition this season is a pair from . They feature a beautiful, straight silhouette that falls straight down, with a deep rise. I love the textured, slubby feel that blends perfectly with casual outfits. I’ve heard that all of ’s clothing is inspired by workwear. This pair also incorporates work pants details, such as the side pockets. It strikes an exquisite balance between a masculine aesthetic and a refined vibe, making it rugged yet elegant. Clothing with this duality is exactly what I’m into right now.

FAIRWEATHER
Fairweather Backpack
Things created by people who take play seriously.
This backpack was born out of the passion of a senior colleague who works at the bike shop “Blue Rag.” It combines functionality inspired by bike packing with a design suitable for everyday use—and that’s what makes this item so appealing. Although it’s on the smaller side at 18L, you can maximize its storage capacity by making full use of the mesh pockets and straps. Made from Dyneema, it’s not only durable but also water-resistant. The creases that develop with use will likely add to its character. It’s also fun to customize it with pin badges and reflectors to make it your own. While there are many functional options available these days, this item—conceived by enthusiasts who are purely dedicated to the hobby of bike packing—truly shines with its user-centric design. And since it’s also practical for everyday use, it’s sure to fit seamlessly into anyone’s lifestyle.
