Pigu / 10 saggars Director

He is the director of the Tokyo-based brand " TENBOX (10 saggars) " which was launched in 2017. He is also a close friend of the members of "Don't Come," who will be visiting Japan this time, and serves as a distributor of their T-shirts and other goods sold in Japan.

Don't Come" is a party born on the streets of LA.

What is "don't cam" anyway?

Pigu. simply put, it's the name of a DJ crew based in LA. We often have parties in the back of the "Virgil Normal" store, and all kinds of people gather there anyway.

On the left is Courtland of Supreme and on the right is Jeff of Rotstock & Barrel. They are also in charge of designing merchandise.

Shirley ( (left )) and Charlie ( (right )) of Virgil Normal are a married couple and two of the most important figures in the LA fashion scene.

PiguThere are four members who are the main organizers: Jeff, the manager of Lot, Stock & Barrel, a vintage and chain stitch store; Courtland, the manager of Supreme in L.A.; and Charlie, the owner of Virgil Normal, and his wife, Shirley, a stylist. . Then there is Charlie, the owner of "Virgil Normal" and his wife, Shirley, who is a stylist. These four get together and host parties all the time.

Pigu, you are a distributor for Don't Come. What kind of connection do you have with them?

Pigu.: I got to know them through Instagram. I had always loved LA and had been going surfing with friends for a long time, but I didn't have any local friends. About 5 years ago, before I went to LA, I uploaded a photo of myself eating pizza in Japan with the tag "#Pizzanista". Then Jeff commented to me, "If you come to LA, I'll attend you.

Suddenly?

PiguSuddenly, I was worried . So I was a bit worried, but after a lot of back and forth, he told me that he was the manager of a band called "ALLAH-LAS. I looked into the band and found out that they are quite famous in the U.S. and were scheduled to play at the opening party of a store during our visit. Jeff invited them and we hit it off.

. That was about five years ago, wasn't it?

Pigu: Yes, that's right. At that time, "Don't Cam" had not yet started.

When did you start?

PiguI'm not sure of the exact date, but I think it started last year. I think it started last year. Nowadays, "Virgil Normal" has become an indispensable part of LA street culture, like a hub of the scene. It's like a hub of the scene. Kyle from Brain Dead, Anwar from Carrots, and other cool local skaters come here often.

I see.

Pigu. Also, Shirley is a stylist, and she does ads for maison brands. . So, not only people from the street, but also many people from the fashion industry come here.

What is the meaning of the party name "Don't Come"?

PiguThey are joking around and like to joke around, and if people don't come to the party, they don't show up. (Laughs.) They are joking and humorous.

Excellent sampling sense of merchandising.

Don't Come" also sells apparel goods, right?

Pigu. It's like a band tee. I incorporated a graphic of an old man eating ramen noodles, and when I collaborated with "10 saggars," I sampled a flyer-style graphic from a massage parlor.

You said that all of them have their originals.

Pigu: Yes, that's right. Noodleman was a Taiwanese cup noodle character or something? When I heard that Jeff was making one, I thought, "I like it. I had been holding a pop-up event called "PIGU HOUSE" at stores around the country since the beginning of this year, and when I was looking for items for the event, I found out about "Donkamu" along with the T-shirts. I think I was originally inspired by "Virgil Normal" and Cortlandt's work at "Supreme," which led me to develop the brand at my own store.

I understand that "Journal Standard" will also be carrying the brand this time around.

PiguYes, that's right. Originally, we had already been offering the products at local stores in Japan, but now, for the first time, we have decided to do so at a store in Tokyo as well, taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the launch at "Journal Standard. Furthermore, in addition to the existing items, we have also had new designs created for this visit to Japan.

Are you sampling from somewhere this time as well?

Pigu. Jeff loves the TV show "Nodo Jimo" (Voice of the People). Whenever I visit LA, he always lets me stay at his house. I always watch it when I visit L.A. and often say to him, "I want to be in it! (Laughs) That's why I sampled the show for this project.

I want people to experience one of the cultural aspects of LA: the party.

What kind of atmosphere do you usually have at your parties?

Pigu. It has a very homey, homemade feel to it. There is no sense of pretentiousness, the atmosphere is great, and the mood seems to match their feeling.

What kind of music will be played?

Pigu. they were playing Japanese city pop from the 70's. . They love Japanese music . I am sure they will buy records when they come to Japan, so I think they will play that right away at this party.

. Lastly, please tell us about the highlights of this party.

Pigu. Anyway, parties are a part of their daily lives. . On the other hand, in Japan, party culture is not that deeply rooted. There may be pop-up events of some brands, or for the commemoration of collaborations, but they are not always held. . But for the "Don't Come" crew, parties are a daily occurrence, and we can't start without them. We already play music, drink beer, and dance every week. I think you can feel that kind of party mood in L.A. this time, too, and I hope you can experience it.
