A young employee rediscovers the appeal of mechanical watches.

Citizen (company). in fact, this "Club La Mer" brand was a hit in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, it was almost dormant until recently, as the mainstream of the watch industry shifted from straps to metal bands.

In a different vein, a young employee of Citizen discovered the appeal of mechanical watches. . The gears move, they make noises, and the hands move in interesting ways. He thought, "If there is such a fascinating product, I want users of my generation to know about it. So we decided to revive the dormant "Club La Mer" by breathing new life into it with a mechanical movement, and that is how we came up with the idea of renewing it.

IkedaI was surprised at the price range, although I was also working on the styling and thought it looked good. I was surprised at the price range.

Citizen (company). because we are very particular about the quality. Frankly, I don't think it's possible at this price.

-What kind of watch do you usually wear, Mr. Ikeda?

IkedaI also prefer mechanical watches. The mechanical feel of a watch, where you can see the movement inside, ticking, ticking, is appealing to me. As for straps, I tend to use leather or NATO-type nylon bands these days. The more classic the model is, the better the NATO band goes with it, so I think it would be good to change the strap of "Club La Mer. . Also, I like the size of this watch.

Citizen (company). In the past few years, models with large faces have been attracting attention, but we dared to go with this size.

Ikeda. Like this one, sometimes at flea markets, you can find just a plate with a slightly curved dial.

Citizen (company). It used to be a common practice in the past, but not so much anymore, because it is a very difficult technique. The hands also have to be bent along the dial, which is also very difficult. ......

Ikeda. Because a watch is a precision instrument. Moreover, they have to be able to withstand tremendous shaking without being out of alignment. . I feel that the watch is very well made, even when looking at these small details.

A small presence changes the coordination.

-. In the coming season, clocks will inevitably be hidden, won't they? . Again, what is the role of a watch in a coordinated look?

Ikeda. even when styling a suit or jacket, I go out of my way to borrow a watch, even though I can only see a little bit. But it makes all the difference whether it is there or not. Watches are different from clothes, so it works in a way that is not about area. Especially when you are wearing a suit, a watch at the end of the suit makes it look more formal.

Citizen (company). Since clocks are used to keep track of time, they are also closely related to business.
A single watch can give you so many options for how you present yourself.

Ikeda.: It's just like personal grooming, like socks and a glimpse of a T-shirt. . Because when you meet in person, you will be surprised at who was wearing what kind of watch, and it will leave a lasting impression.

Also, quartz watches can probably be replaced and kept in use, but mechanical watches have the pleasure of being repaired and kept in use. My image of a mechanical watch was that it would take a certain age to get used to it, but at this price, I think you can fall in love with it even at a young age.

Mr. Ikeda points out the art of coordination.

The metal band has a masculine image and goes well with navy tones, so I selected a bomber jacket and rigid denim. I was torn between tassel loafers or plain-toe shoes with laces, but I decided to go with leather shoes with laces this time because they give a masculine impression.

. "I was conscious of how cute the watch looks when glimpsed through the cuffs, and I tried to create a gap by using a knit with more texture. The match when it comes out of the cuff is important, but it is also important to match the watch with the shoes, for example, a rubber belt goes very well with the sole of a sneaker.
