monessay ─cheimaphobia

Toshiyuki Sai, the publisher of HOUYHNHNM and the editor-in-chief of HOUYHNHNM Unplugged, will be writing a Series called "monessay. It is an essay through objects, so it is called "monessay." There is no twist to it, but it is not a poop either. The column that had been serialized in a certain magazine for quite a long time has been discontinued, and a new column has been started in HOUYHNHNM. This time, we'll be looking at sandals from "Island Slipper.

Tenth cheimaphobia

last ... (e.g. "last April")The summer is drawing to a close. August is the month of the end of the war. This is the time of year when content related to the war comes to life in all kinds of media. This time of year also makes me think about life. Many lives were taken unwillingly or absurdly.

that (someone or something distant from both speaker and listener, or situation unfamiliar to both speaker and listener)Today's peace is based on the sacrifices of war in the 1950s and 1960s. We should not just spend our days in a stupor, but should cherish our lives, but it is not easy to do so.

exactlyDo you want to spend your life in such a way?

remarkIn other words, the title of the best-selling book, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies, is exactly the same.

young (animal)When asked, the question is so vague that it is difficult to answer even if you are not Mr. Kopel. Maybe the question is a little too big.

Japanese dock (plant) (Rumex japonicus)But it is better for each individual to have such a fundamental philosophy. It might be a good idea to turn off your cell phone and ponder such things while traveling by bus.

laAs an IF Style Magazine, we think it would be better to focus on hints and tips to answer such questions, but it is easier to be more specific.

that (someone or something distant from both speaker and listener, or situation unfamiliar to both speaker and listener)What kind of life do you want to live? What kind of life do you want to lead?

young (animal)The field may be better suited to the field in which I live.

bracelet (made of stringed jewels or bells and worn at the elbow)Living with consideration for the environment. Living on the move with a camper. Living on the move in a campervan. Living on the move around the world chasing good waves. Living in a tree house. There are many ways to live.

whoBut there is a kind of life that we yearn for, isn't there? It is a longing because it is difficult to realize.

from ...In the case of the "min" style, too, there is a style that has been a goal of mine since I was young.

just (e.g. "just try it")I want to stay barefoot all year round.

shoesIt's a life in a year-round warm climate that doesn't require a bottom.

redWould it be a city near the road, close to the city and nature with no sanitation problems? I would like to spend all year round in beeswax.

(somebody's) locationI am really not good at cold places, which may be related to the fact that I have a sensitivity to the cold. Yesterday, I watched "Everest" written by John Krakower on demand again, and just imagining such extreme cold conditions is terrifying. Personally, I can call it a kind of horror movie. I heard this phobia is called "cheimaphobia" in English. I wonder how to pronounce it.

viewAfter the event, I walked the streets of Tokyo in August, when it was slightly cooler, wearing shorts and a T-shirt. It already smells like autumn.

and ... andThe light, heavy "Island Slipper" also has a light footstep.
