Photographer / Coordinator / Yoga Instructor / Model

MIYU FUKADA(Age 29)

A free spirit without a title who travels freely in Japan and abroad with a camera in hand. She is currently active in a variety of fields, including writing columns for magazines and media, translating and interpreting, modeling, coordinating, etc. In Zushi, where she moved five years ago, she spends her days immersed in surfing and enjoying the slow life.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

I felt it would be easy to use when traveling or going abroad, and also convenient for everyday use as it can hold a computer and camera. Also, it is a design that even women can use without resistance.

What kind of brand is CHROME to you?

When I was living in New York, I visited a store there once and saw a photo exhibition by a photographer named Gotoken, and the store was filled with many messengers. I recognized that the brand is closely connected with such a culture.

What is your favorite place (store) in Zushi? And what kind of place is surfers ZUSHI, the location of this photo shoot, to you?

A place where I go to learn a lot from the older people in my life. I have been working there part-time since it was originally on the beach, and it is a very special place in Zushi. I go there not only to surf, but also when I just want to look at the ocean.

What were some of the culture shocks you experienced while living abroad?

When I lived in the U.S., there were more people who were loose with time and lazy than in Japan. At first, it was quite a culture shock, but now I think that the common sense and normality I held became prejudice as I learned about the culture of the country through my travels, and it became an opportunity for me to broaden my perspective and knowledge.

As a photographer, MIYU, what are your favorite landscapes and subjects?

What you like may not be specific, as it is always changing. Rather, the photos tell us what we like at the time.

LOOPY HOTEL Designer / Graphic Designer

TEITOMr. (24 years old)

He started his own brand "LOOPY HOTEL" at the age of just 22. As the designer of this brand, he is now the leading young fashion designer who is attracting attention in the industry. He is also active as a graphic designer, and his designs, which are full of individuality, are highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad. Recently, he has also been active as a member of "DHC," a game unit formed by creators with his boss, illustrator FACE.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

The size is just right, and it is well made, as it is a specialized brand. It is easy to match with my daily outfits.

What kind of brand is CHROME to you?

Although it has a strong image of messenger bags, I believe the brand is widely loved by people who love bicycles.

Do you have a favorite spot that you usually go to?

I haven't been able to go there as much recently as I used to, but it is a bar called "Quintet" in Umegaoka.

Your work as a graphic artist is separate from your brand. What kind of things do you usually use as inspiration?

Scenery and works of art that I have seen when I have been abroad. And then there are things that caught my eye in my daily life.

When you imagine your lifestyle 10 years from now, what kind of life do you want to live?

I hope to be able to relax and do what I want to do with my life.

Together with his partner OMI, he is proud of their love of music, and the products he produces have a strong scent of it. He also has a rare sense of balance, as he knows in real time the Tokyo culture of the 90's, when back streets were in their heyday, but also has the foresight to always be half a step ahead of the times. In the last few years, he has turned his attention to camping and other outdoor activities, enjoying his newfound lifestyle to the fullest.

What were the key points of the day's outfits?

In keeping with the bag's design, we were conscious of a rough yet elegant and sporty look.

University student / Model / "I&I" staff

Miyuki ZaiharaThree (19)

She is a university student at a well-known university in Tokyo, a model for magazines and brand catalogs, and a millennial who loves clothes so much that she works as a staff member at a vintage clothing store in Shibuya. Her partner in this busy life is a custom-made road bike given to her by her father, a former bicycle racer. When the weather is nice, she enjoys going out with her beloved bike for long-distance trips.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

It fit great and did not slip off when I was pedaling my bike. I also liked the subtle details such as the logo on the metal fittings, which were stylish and subtle!

What were the key points of the day's outfits?

The key point of this collection is its autumnal styling unified with brownish colors. The pullover jacket, which can be worn like a shirt, is paired with wide pants for a boyish look. However, it is rather similar to my usual style (laughs).

Why did you choose the school you are attending now?

To be able to learn about Japanese culture. Also, I can take practical training in the twelve techniques of yushoku-jitsu. My only complaint is that there are not enough vending machines (laughs).

Who has been the most influential person in your life? Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

Diana Breeland was the legendary former editor of US Vogue. Her ideas are outstanding, and when I saw the documentary, I was overwhelmed. I think she is a very strong woman and wonderful.

Do you have any memorable memories with your family related to bicycles?

When I was in elementary school, all my friends were riding cute bicycles, and I wanted to ride a cute bicycle too, but my father's policy made me ride a mountain bike (laughs). Thinking about it now, I think that was extravagant, but at the time I remember wanting to ride a cute bicycle with a basket (laughs).

W-BASE" staff and riders

MARCOThree (29)

He has been familiar with skating and fixed gear bikes since his school days, and as a fixed gear rider in his teens, he was a key figure in the Tokyo scene receiving support from various stores and brands, including "W-BASE". Currently, he is a signboard staff member and rider at a long-established store with which he has a deep emotional attachment. With his well-liked personality, he has made many friends among skaters, BMX riders, and the fashion industry, and his smile is his trademark. Recently, he has immersed himself in film cameras, recording his trip tours and hangout days with his friends.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

To be honest, I have been using only backpacks recently, so this was the first shoulder bag I have worn in a while, which is embarrassing for a rider. I really like the messenger bag. This, this, this! It feels like a messenger bag. It was a good thing that I felt comfortable with it even though it had been a while since I had worn it.

What kind of brand is CHROME to you?

A real messenger bag brand from San Francisco, now based in Portland. It is a talented brand that is supported by real riders and people who keep moving in the city, both now and in the past.

What is the current state of the BMX and piste scene in Tokyo?

I get the impression that you are getting excited. When it's not exciting, you think, "I want to ride!" but I can't find a group of friends. The number of pistol riders is still increasing, and the BMX scene has a wide range of riders, from young, hot, skilled riders to older, cool riders who keep their style. In fact, "piste" is becoming a dead word in the world of mixed gear. From there, a new generation and a new way of enjoyment, "fixed gear" or "trackbike" boom is coming. The current trend is that riders around "W-BASE" are now defaulting to having two bikes, a BMX and a fixedgear. It is interesting, isn't it?

What is the best thing about W-BASE?

I guess it's the honesty, not lying, and not making you regret. I thought the proximity to culture as well as bicycles only.

What are your future plans as a rider?

In addition to my own evolution and growth as a rider, I want to give back not only to "W-BASE" but also to the scene. I want to continue to think of something exciting and enjoyable for everyone.

JUNThree (27)

Of course, it is not just his hair, but he is also a surfer by nature, and skating, which he has been doing since he was a student, has become his life's work. His private brand "SURF SKATE CAMP" is also doing very well, clad in such West Coast vibes.

What do you usually look for in a bag?

Something simple and easy to use. In addition, it would be great if it had some thoughtful equipment.

What were the key points of the day's outfits?

The new long sleeve shirt collaborated with "SANTA CRUZ" and "STANDARD CALIFORNIA" is the main item, and Dickies bottoms are worn as usual. The bag has a strong presence, so the key point is to dress it in a smart, rough style.

Who has been the most influential person in your life? Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

There are many, but if I had to say one, it would be Jay Adams. The reason is his very way of life.

What areas do you usually skate and surf?

I surf in Chiba and skate in Saitama. I often work at each local spot.

What was the impetus for starting "SURF SKATE CAMP" as a private brand? What kind of brand is it?

This is because there were not many brands that were developing socks as a brand at that time. I was fascinated by the atmosphere and culture of California, and as the brand name suggests, I have incorporated various designs into socks while sublimating my own unique interpretation of the backbone of the counterculture of skating, surfing, and camping.

Color at Against Owner

Yuta Takahashi Three (32)

Mr. Takahashi, the famous owner of "Color at Against," nicknamed "Kalaage," enjoys motorcycle touring these days. He once purchased a Harley-Davidson, which was the dream of all bikers, but decided to switch to a new one because of its lack of balance and compatibility with his daily outfits. His current favorite bike is the "D-TRACKER" by Kawasaki, which has many off-road bike enthusiasts. It is a perfect match for his everyday American style. While he plans to continue riding for a while, he still has a dream of riding a first-generation SUZUKI "HUSTLER" someday.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

The exquisite navy coloring was good, and the capacity was the best size.

What were the key points of the day's outfits?

While complementing the bag, we tried to create a casual, autumnal look.

Why did you choose your current job?

It's something I've always wanted to do, and at the moment I have no other choice.

Which tattoo studio do you recommend, Takahashi-san?

The store I put in is gone now, but the two I want to go to most now are "COTTON PICKIN TATTOO" in Akita, my hometown, and "THE PARLOUR" in Shibuya.

Color at Against" also carries many indie-oriented Tokyo brands.

I originally came to this site because I was acquainted with the designers of each brand, and also because I liked the style of mixing both secondhand and new clothes. By the way, I am planning to release boot goods of "Kinzoku Agricultural High School" in the near future (laugh).

tie-dye artist

distance from the seam in the back of a kimono to the end of the sleeveMr. (31 years old)

Yuki is a tie-dye artist who creates beautiful tie-dye patterns on various products by hand-dyeing. Her activities began when she started bleach-dyeing, which she began to imitate after a shocking encounter with punk rock. Currently, she is active in her own label, DxYxE, and is inundated with offers from the fashion industry for production work. However, she continues her creative activities at her own pace because of her own spirit of craftsmanship, influenced by skaters and craftsmen in various fields.

How did you feel when you actually used the bag this time?

I usually ride my BMX about 20 km a day, and it fits my back well enough to use it for long distances without strain.

What were the key points of the day's outfits?

A new hoodie dyed by [RADIALL] that I dyed myself, and denim for a relaxed look. The color scheme of the bag matches well.

What is your latest boom?

Watching movies; it's interesting to see a movie I saw 10 years ago in a completely different light when I watch it again now.

What are some of the challenges of tie-dyeing, and what are some of your own innovations?

Joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. When I am not in the mood, the colors are very muddy and dirty, even vitamin colors. On the other hand, when I am in a good mood, even dark colors are beautiful without being muddy. When I am dyeing the past (anger and sorrow) and future (anxiety), which are the reasons why I am not in the mood, I do not think about anything but think about the present (joy = pleasure I am expressing), and the moment I wash and dry my clothes (ease = pleasure I have finished dyeing), I try to dye them.

What is your current favorite BMX and what makes you proud of it?

Mr. Ohtaki of "T-19" fully produced the car, and the tires are thicker than usual.
