Finding "something special for everyday use. BAYCREW'S first jewelry store was born.

The Bay Cruise Group's first men's jewelry boutique, WORLDLY-WISE, just opened on August 18 (Sat) of this year. With the keyword of "specialness for everyday use," the store offers a wide selection of jewelry from contemporary trend-setting jewelry brands to vintage jewelry from luxury brands around the world. The store offers "just-right" jewelry that will suit our style, regardless of country or time period. Stylist Naoki Ikeda, who knows a thing or two about styling jewelry, will visit the store with Kenya Shigezumi, the buyer of Worldly Wise, to learn more about the store's charms and highlights.

A store where you can find a wide variety of jewelry.

Is this your first visit to Worldly Wise, Ikeda-san?

IkedaYes, it is. There are various flagship stores of jewelry brands that are strong in men's jewelry, but this kind of select store is rare, I think.

multiple dwelling. This will be the first attempt for the BayCruise Group. Originally, I myself love jewelry and watches, so I was asked to do the store as a project planner.

IkedaIt's amazing. The location, Kotto Dori, with its rows of luxury brands, etc., is also wonderful. In addition to jewelry, there are also high-brand vintage bags and stationery, and the product mix is not lacking.

multiple dwellingWe offer jewelry that can be worn casually by men under the theme of "specialness for everyday use. By the way, is there any jewelry that you have been interested in recently?

IkedaGold, I guess, as I am over 40 years old. I thought it was too early for me, but I thought it was about time. I would be happy to combine it with silver.

multiple dwellingIf so, how about products from FIRST NATIONS JEWELRY? There are not many stores in Japan that carry their products.

IkedaI did not know that. Is it Native American jewelry? But it looks a bit different....

multiple dwellingActually, it is made by tribal people who have influenced the Hopi people. Roughly speaking, they are the indigenous peoples of Canada.

IkedaI see , I did not know that. So, being of Hopi roots, would the method be an overlay as well?

multiple dwellingNo, that's not quite right . Like this piece of jewelry, you use a technique called cutout, which is a partial cutout. To put it plainly, you are using a traditional motif like a totem pole.

IkedaIt's gold , but it looks very easy to use in everyday life.

multiple dwellingI'm using 14k, but the base is very thin, 1mm-1.5mm. It blends well with any style.

IkedaYou can actually see how good it looks when you wear it. . including the motif and material, it looks good feng shui-wise. Gold will work well with beige in the coming season, as it goes very well with beige.

multiple dwellingFor those who want a little more spice, we would like to recommend BOLTED STUDIO . This brand is one of our top picks at Worldly Wise.

IkedaIt has a different volume and martial spirit from the brands you have introduced so far.

multiple dwellingIt is a completely handmade brand made in an atelier located between Atlanta and Miami in the southeastern United States. I think there are only a few people in Japan who know about it.

IkedaDid you go all the way to the studio?

multiple dwellingYes (laughs). It took me quite a while to get there from the airport (laughs). I didn't have much information, so I didn't have a full picture, but the moment I saw it, I thought it was cool.

IkedaThe silver used also has a unique look. It looks like it will develop a good taste as it is used. This kind of jewelry also tickles men's fancy.

multiple dwellingIt is made of ingot silver melted from buffalo coins. It is not the common 925 sterling silver, but silver 999, which is close to pure silver, so the brilliance is definitely different. Thanks to the unique softness of this material, this kind of intricate processing is possible.

IkedaWhen you wear it, it has a great sense of massiveness. Yet, the reason why it does not look like this is because of the sophistication of the design.

multiple dwellingYes, I do. The finished product is often inspired by industrial products, which makes it distinct from so-called jewelry design. . Also, since the designer is a music lover, his designs are unique, such as using guitar necks as a motif.

A jewelry brand that brings together the best of Japanese high technology.

multiple dwellingNext, I would like to recommend a brand called "HAM," which is a concentrated product of the creator's particular attention to detail.

IkedaWhere is the brand?

multiple dwellingThis is a Japanese brand. The chain motif design requires a high level of skill.

IkedaThis looks like it would take a lot of work (laughs). I like the idea of wearing the gold by itself, but I'm also interested in the combination with silver.

multiple dwellingHow about this silver and 10k gold combination?

IkedaThe fit on the arm is well thought out. This is amazing.

Even if you don't normally wear jewelry except for your wedding ring, there is a wide variety of jewelry that you can use without feeling self-conscious.

IkedaSurprisingly, some Japanese are not comfortable wearing jewelry. I have the impression that people in other countries wear jewelry in a more casual manner.

multiple dwellingThere are various theories, but compared to the West, Japan did not have a history of wearing jewelry. According to one theory, there was jewelry until the Asuka period, but it was never worn after that. To put it in an extreme way, we have been estranged from jewelry for about 1,000 years. Armor of the Warring States period is also a kind of decoration, but it is different from jewelry.

IkedaOverseas, you have jewelry as a military item, such as college rings. . there seems to be a cultural difference between countries.

. It is interesting to explore jewelry from this historical aspect. Do you have a selection of Japanese brands other than "Ham"?

multiple dwellingWe also have a Japanese brand called "DAIKI SANO. The designer is in his 30s, but he makes quite good products.

IkedaThe rope bracelet-like design is impressive. You can tell that this bracelet was made using advanced technology.

multiple dwelling. it is braided by hand, using a technique called hand braiding. This is the base plate.

IkedaYou are going to weave this in. I can't imagine it (laughs). It has the warmth of a handmade product , but also has an elegant atmosphere.

multiple dwellingThat is exactly right. I can feel that strong desire from the products.

Vintage jewelry from all over the world.

IkedaI understand that "Worldly Wise" also carries vintage jewelry.

multiple dwellingYes . What I would like to introduce to you today, Ikeda-san, is the signet ring. This was originally used by European aristocrats and royalty. It is a piece of jewelry that has taken root as part of the culture.

IkedaI see . So there is a stone in the middle , and a lot of variations in design.

multiple dwellingSignet rings are said to have originated to carry the coat of arms passed down from generation to generation in various royal families and noble families. There was a time when only the privileged were allowed to wear them. They were also used to seal letters, and by stamping wax on the crest, it was also a tool to prove that the person had written the letter.

IkedaI see , so each ring has a different design. Knowing that background, I can enjoy it in a different way. I can understand why current brands use it as a motif.

IkedaIn terms of individuality, this Tuareg jewelry also has a unique atmosphere. . I have the impression that it is becoming more and more popular these days.

multiple dwellingThe Tuareg are known for their jewelry, which HERMES has commissioned to be made by the Tuareg. They are a minority tribe living in the vast Sahara Desert. Because of their distinctive motifs, their jewelry looks different from Native American jewelry, even if they are in the same craft-like position.

IkedaIt certainly has the image of " Hermes ", doesn't it ? . Since it is a simple design, it might be good to stack them.

multiple dwellingThere are quite a few people who purchase a bangle and a set of bangles together. Stacking them together can give them a unique look, and even those who do not normally wear jewelry can coordinate them without feeling uncomfortable.

Ikeda. you have a wide variety of jewelry. I learned a lot today. I would like to visit again, this time on a private visit!

multiple dwellingWe are waiting for you with many special jewelry items!

Ikeda selected a ring from Daikisano and a bangle from Bolted Studio. I don't like to show off my jewelry too much," said Ikeda. I don't like to show off my jewelry too much, so I just go for a casual look. But if it's too simple, it's not interesting, so I used a ring by Daikisano to give it a mature look, and a bangle by Bolted Studio to accentuate the volume. Today's styling includes many sporty items such as sweatshirts and high-tech sneakers. . Therefore, having this kind of jewelry on hand helps to tighten up the style. I like to enjoy jewelry as a part of fashion.
