This season, a collaborative series with Andy Warhol, a pioneer of American pop art, was launched. In conjunction with this, we report on the launch party held at the chill spot "PIZZA SLICE 2" in Aoyama, Tokyo.
A variety of eyewear reflecting Andy Warhol's world view.
PIZZA SLICE 2, located in the back alley of Miyuki-dori in Aoyama, where the maison's flagship stores are lined up, was the venue for the unveiling of the collaboration series by Zoff and Andy Warhol. At the entrance, a poster reminiscent of 70's America was set up.
ZOFF pays homage to Andy Warhol with a total of 9 models and 47 types of products in three lines: "Silver Factory," "Silk Screen," and "Self-Portrait. The eyewear reflects the essence of Warhol's works, background, history, and philosophy.
This artistic collection consists of three lines.
The "Silver Factory" series is characterized by a gimmick of a metal plate sandwiched inside a plastic material called acetate, and metal frames with a matte texture without luster. The name of the series is said to be derived from the name of the atelier where Warhol is said to have created many of his works. The industrial booth and eyewear were in perfect sync.
Warhol mass-produced silkscreened images of objects and people recognized by the masses, such as Campbell's Soup cans, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley. The "Silk Screen" series, inspired by Warhol's work, incorporates iconic artwork into eyewear.
The "Self-Portrait" series was created in the image of the pop coloring of Warhol's masterpiece, Self-Portrait. An artistic atmosphere is built up by matching acetate fabrics of different colors from the middle of the temples. The product that the upper panel of Warhol is wearing is a faithful reproduction of the eyewear that he used to wear before his death.
The walls of the venue were covered with posters that had been displayed at the entrance, and a photographer dressed as Andy Warhol took pictures of visitors with a Polaroid camera, allowing visitors to experience the creative worldview created by Zoff and Andy Warhol from every angle. Also on display was Ryuichi Sakamoto's silkscreen art, one of only three remaining in the world. Since it is a very rare piece of art, we saw many people taking pictures of it.
In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes. In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes. The eyewear exquisitely reflects the artwork of Warhol, a brilliant figure in the history of American pop art. It would be nice to wear them or to have them as an art piece.
