Please tell us how you came to carry T-Jacket at Barneys New York.
turtle canyonWe started carrying the brand in 2014, when it was first established. The idea was to introduce new and innovative items to increase the variety of jackets in our dress casual department. At the time, stiff tailored jackets were still the mainstream, so a light and soft jacket with relaxed shoulders like the "T Jacket" looked very fresh.
What kind of outfits did you suggest in the stores?
turtle canyonAt first, we recommended a rather formal styling with an Italian brand cutaway shirt as innerwear, slightly washed chinos or slacks as bottoms, and leather slip-ons on the feet. The trend has shifted to a more casual style, with high-gauge knits and cut-and-sewns as innerwear, and T-shirts in the spring and summer. For bottoms, easy pants with drawcords and sneakers are preferred, giving the overall look a sporty and relaxed feel.

Has the style of the T-Jacket changed since its establishment?
turtle canyonNo, I don't think it has changed much. From the very beginning, the jacket style was intended to be worn without a tie. In fact, I think the way we wear jackets today has changed to fit more naturally with the original style of the "T-Jacket.
So you were ahead of your time. What exactly is T-Jacket's unique style?
turtle canyonThe single, two-button, unvented, two-patch pockets, unlined, and unbuttoned sleeves have remained unchanged. Despite being a jacket, the tailoring is quite casual.
In the front is a technical fabric made of cotton knit fabric bonded with polyester. In contrast, the back is a basket-knit piece made of crisp cotton linen.
And the fabric is also very distinctive.

turtle canyonUnlike ordinary tailored jackets, this jacket has a natural shape, especially around the shoulders, because it uses as little interlining and other secondary materials for reinforcement as possible. Also, the waist is not too narrow, so it does not restrict the wearer's body shape. The three-dimensional shape from the back collar to the lapel creates an exquisite fit.
Pay attention to the seam allowance. As you can see, the seams are flat, so you can enjoy a stress-free wearing experience.
Hanger loops at the bottom of the neck. This detail is usually seen on shirts, but it is rare to see it on jackets like the "T-Jacket".

Basically, the woven jacket has a back yoke, but combined with the hanger loops on the outside, it looks and feels like a shirt. Since there are no sleeve buttons, it can be worn with the sleeves rolled up, and can be easily worn as if it were a truly casual shirt.
What is the response to the pop-up stores currently being held at Barneys New York stores?
turtle canyonFor this pop-up store, we have added models in slightly more aggressive colors and patterns to those ordered inline. The response has been great, and they are very popular in the stores. The secret of their popularity is probably their reasonable price, which is in the 50,000-60,000 yen range for the volume zone, while being made in Italy and of solid quality.
