Amidst the apparel recession, "Daytona International" has been flying off the shelves in recent years. The mainstay of this trend is the select store "Freaks Store," which opened in 1986 in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, in a space of only 3.5 square meters. In addition to the fashion business, we are also engaged in the food and beverage business and the fashion business. In addition to the fashion business, the company also operates a restaurant business, a wholesale business, a house business, and a hotel business. Reflecting the current times, we are expanding our vision beyond the framework of a select store to encompass all aspects of lifestyle. Among these businesses, "Open Studio" stands out from the rest. This gallery, which has brought a new culture to the Freaks Store and, by extension, to Daytona International, is the root of the company's growth and evolution.
This is also true for the "MUTANT THRIFT WEAR MARKET by YSTRDY's TMRRW" currently being held. Freaks Store" has started handling "YSTRDY's TMRRW" from this season. Normally, a pop-up would tend to be an unveiling of the new line, but we feel the spirit of spirit and service in the fact that it is not a cut-and-dry affair.
Of course, there were aspects that were easier to understand, but I thought that would be boring. If we were going to go to the trouble of using "Open Studio" for a pop-up, we wanted to do something interesting that had never been done elsewhere.
In this pop-up, Ms. Kanno herself picks up vintage clothes and remakes them with a unique nuance that takes advantage of the good qualities of the original vintage clothes, and offers a limited number of items. The event name "MUTANT THRIFT WEAR MARKET by YSTRDY's TMRRW" is an expression of remaking, replacing the word "mutant" with "mutation. "THRIFT WEAR" refers to so-called secondhand clothing, and Mr. Kanno was inspired by the secondhand clothing he found in numerous thrift stores during his stay in the U.S. He named it " THRIFT WEAR ." The name "THRIFT WEAR" was inspired by the vintage clothing that Mr. Kanno found in numerous thrift shops during his stay in the U.S.
To be honest, I haven't been in touch with the "Freaks Store" for several years, but the image I had of the store when I was a student was that of "American casual. My interpretation of that image was remaking vintage clothing. At that time, we dealt in more vintage clothing than we do now.
I think it is time for Freaks Store to take on new challenges with an eye on the future. In a sense, I think the brand expects this of me, who joined the company the year before last. That's why we decided to do a special pop-up like this one, rather than simply advertising that we have started carrying YSTRDY's TMRRW.
