I have been with the company for 26 years now, and many of the staff at the Shinjuku store are involved in some kind of sport or activity, such as surfing or camping. On the other hand, we also have staff who see outdoor and sports elements as fashionable, so we understand the context of recent outdoor fashion. Because we are able to follow a wide range of activities from the field to lifestyle, we are able to build a relationship where both sides can stimulate each other's different senses. I think that is very good for the store."
Mr. Nomura is the manager of Oshman's Shinjuku store. He is not particular about his daily fashion style, preferring simple and bland. He enjoys wearing items that are available on the market, and enjoys fashion with such a casual attitude.
I like to coordinate with a white T-shirt from "Haines" as I did today. White stands out in a monotone color scheme, doesn't it? I am rather slender, so I try not to look too sloppy when I wear a T-shirt. I usually choose a T-shirt that is slightly smaller than the one I am wearing today, but I don't mind having a little bit of room. It was a new discovery.
For Mr. Nomura, who experienced the heyday of Shibu-Kaje in the 1990s, white T-shirts from "Haines" have become a commonplace. From the first time he voluntarily picked up an item of clothing, he knew he could not go wrong by choosing a white T-shirt from "Haines.
I saw it from the beginning as something to be worn alone, rather than as an inner layer. At the time, I didn't know how to read it, so I remember calling it a harness (laughs). (laughs). It was a time when there was still no information available. I have known about it since that time, so it is really great that it is still loved by so many people, and that these Japan-fit items are being updated over and over again. In fact, Oshman's has been carrying them for a long time. When "Haines" is being introduced in a big way, I think it's finally summer (laughs). (Laughs.) For me, "Haynes" is a brand that makes me feel even the seasons.
