According to the owner, "This color cannot be achieved with chemical dyes. The soft, but not sharp, colors remind us that the dyeing was done using natural dyes. Mr. Yoshida was pleased with the finished product.
Compared to items dyed with chemical dyes, the items have a great atmosphere, don't they? It may sound like a stretch to say this, but we have created an item that people simply think is cool when they see the color, rather than just the mud dyeing. When we first saw the color, we thought we wanted to make a product, too.

The thick, strong hands of the master. For more than half a century, he has been dyeing mud with these two hands.
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, these efforts are only possible because of the determination and spirit of the oyakata who, while respecting tradition, have taken it in a new direction. In the words of one of the masters, "Vibrancy is generated by various ideas, so we have no choice but to continue doing that in order to continue our work.
I have been dyeing Oshima silk for a long time, so I know how to dye it, but I didn't know how to dye apparel products like this at first. So we experimented. As I tried various things, I began to understand how to do it. Of course, there were many failures. But if you cut corners at that point, you are finished. It is very rewarding to try something new, and I look forward to seeing how it turns out. I hope to do many more dyeing experiments in the future.

The set-up that "Higo Dyeing" and "Work Knot Work" have worked hand in hand to perfect is made with a firm commitment to working with nature to create the beauty that one desires. . That is to say, the pride and sense of beauty of the masters are properly incorporated through the dyes. . It is not simply a matter of having clothes and dyes. In an age where anything is readily available, walking the streets wearing clothes that tell a story is a hip style.
. And perhaps the most important point is that this set-up is dyed with natural raw materials. After extracting the extract, the tee-chi wood is used as fuel, and the mud is returned to nature after being washed away in the river. We believe that this natural and sustainable cycle is a necessary system in this day and age of chemical pollution and environmental problems. We use nature, develop it as a culture, and pass it on as a tradition. The rich nature of Amami and the culture of mud-dyeing are great assets of this island, and we believe that this is the ideal form of craftsmanship that people today should emulate.
According to Mr. Yoshida, the two parties will continue their efforts in the future. Let's wait and see what the finished item will look like, and also look forward to this collaboration with increased power.
