Four pairs of "Dr. Martens" wearers who transcend adversity.
Dr. Martens' boots are often referred to as footwear that embraces the spirit of the counterculture.
The background of this history began with the skins born in London in the late 1960s, who wore cherry red boots. They were loved by Joe Strummer of The Clash during the same period, and have a history of being chosen by many musicians, including punk rockers, and have become an indispensable part of the British cultural landscape.
In the midst of such a working-class lifestyle, "Dr. Martens" boots were only suited to the feet of those who continued to take on the challenge of revolutionizing the world while cherishing their own individuality and not being influenced by the times. This mindset has been passed down to the present day.
Dr. Martens' message for this fall/winter is "TOUGH AS YOU. The campaign focuses on artists and creators who live their lives in their own way while maintaining a rebellious spirit.
The four artists featured are singer and actor Nakhane Touré, hand-painted sculptor Sarah Lu, Blaine Harrison, frontman of the UK band Mystery Jets, and podcast collective, [ SISTEREN], a group of four. These individuals have overcome public prejudice and their own physical hardships to become originators in their respective fields.
The photographer in charge of the visuals is Alex de Mora. His photographic technique is characterized by its unconventionality, and this time he used a method called red scale. By illuminating the backside of the film, the photos were made red when the film was light-sensitive, which made the campaign theme even more strongly appealing.
I am inspired when I see them try to overcome adversity by turning it into strength. We are inspired when we see people trying to overcome adversity by turning it into strength. This campaign contains such an inspiring message.
