Merino wool is effective even in harsh urban environments.

If merino wool is comfortable in the mountains, why shouldn't it also be comfortable in the city? How does Jerry incorporate merino wear into his daily life?
I think people who like merino have one thing in common: they feel so good wearing it all the time that it becomes a chore to change, so they put it on again after taking a bath without changing. That's the case with me (laughs). As I mentioned earlier, merino does not stink. So, I wear it for two or three days in a row. So if I take it off and leave it there, my wife washes it right away, so I put it somewhere else (laughs). (Laughs.) In fact, when I take it off and put it back on, it still has a little of my own warmth, and when I put the sleeves on, it feels better than if it had just been washed.

With summer cooling and winter heating, blowing building winds, and the heat island effect, the urban city is actually an environment where temperatures and conditions can change as rapidly as the mountains.
In the city, it is surprisingly cold when you enter a store or hot when you get on a train, and the temperature varies widely. But merino has a natural temperature and humidity control function that makes it cool when it is hot and warm when it is cold, so it can respond to changes in temperature, and it may actually be excellent as street clothes. There are times when you wear a sweater in winter and when you go into a store, you want to take it off because the temperature is completely different from outside, but if you wear merino underneath, you don't mind the temperature difference so much. My friend Ryoji Honma (stylist and designer for Brown by 2-tacs) has been field-testing this, and he says that he doesn't take it off too often when he goes to a pub (laughs).

One of merino wool's most notable features is that it retains its warmth even when wet. For example, it is common to sweat profusely while hiking up a mountain, and then cool down quickly when exposed to a strong wind as soon as you reach the ridge line. But with merino wool, which is warm even when wet, you can rest assured that such a situation will never happen again.
I ride my bicycle five kilometers one way to and from kindergarten, and it's quite hilly and I get sweaty. But on the way back, there are many downhill slopes, so I get cold from the wind. So on the day I take her to kindergarten, I think to myself in the morning, "I'm going to wear Merino again today. I also want everyone to try it out. There are times when you catch a cold or when you sweat a lot in the night, and with a regular cotton T-shirt, it gets very cold and uncomfortable when you sweat, so you have to get up and change. But with merino, you don't feel so bad even if you sweat a lot. That's why I recommend wearing merino to bed when you have a cold. You don't have that discomfort.
