What kind of image did you have of Monster Parka in the past?
I remember that about 3 or 4 years ago, someone who was familiar with vintage clothing was promoting the Monster Parka, and that's how people in the industry started wearing it. After that, I saw brands releasing hoodies in the same size as before, and I had the impression that the monster parka was expanding. However, I also thought that it would be difficult for the general public to wear them because they were so large.
What prompted you to create this special-order model?
Last fall/winter, "Wild Things" released a new version that retained the image of a monster parka, but in a sizing that could be worn normally on the street. The balance between price, amount of PrimaLoft, and design was just right, and it actually sold well at "BEAMS. It is not often that a new model sells well in its first year, but it was very well received. . I thought that if I made a special order based on it, I could express it in an even newer way.
A. Please tell us about the points you focused on when you made the custom order.
When you think of "BEAMS," you think of crazy patterns. In particular, the "Wild Things" crazy pattern Denali jacket is one of our signature pieces, and we have expressed it in earth colors, which is also the theme of the 2019 Fall/Winter season. . The color scheme is based on the desert camo pattern developed for desert regions. . I am very happy with the finished product, both in terms of fitting this season's theme and in terms of telling a story.
What kind of styling would you recommend for a "town wear" theme?
. Since it was originally a military item and the material is synthetic fiber, it tends to have an outdoorsy or military feel to it. Since I want to wear it as everyday wear, I thought it would be more natural to wear it with a sweatshirt, jeans, and converse. Aiming for that kind of style, I kept the colors calm despite the crazy pattern. Considering the recent street fashion boom, matching with synthetic fiber pants with socks in is fine, but I think this kind of basic proposal is also interesting.
