The Wild Things Monster Parka is a favorite of select stores.

The monster parka has long existed as a symbol of PUC (protective combat clothing) made for special forces operating in harsh environments, and has recently been gaining recognition as a fashion item. Last year, WILD THINGS released an updated version of this classic item. This season, which was the debut season and received favorable reviews across the board, has seen a further evolution, from inline models to special-order models. The staff of the four leading select stores that were in charge of buying the brand will talk about its appeal.

What kind of image did you have of Monster Parka in the past?

I had never worn military outerwear before, and I had an image that it was not suitable for short people, but I had always thought the unique silhouette that anyone can look good in was cool. In particular, I have seen the "Wild Things" Monster Parka quite often since last year, and when I actually tried one on for this special order, I was surprised at how lightweight and warm it is, as well as how convenient it is to throw it on without worrying about details.

What prompted you to create this special-order model?

Wild Things" has a strong image as an outdoor brand, doesn't it? But we wanted to create a military side to the brand. The first thing we made was a fleece set-up inspired by what the military would wear. Then, to further strengthen the military flavor, we added a monster parka, which is a major player in the military.

A. Please tell us about the points you focused on when you made the custom order.

First, the color. The traditional coyote color has too much of a military feel, so we finished it in an elegant beige color, just like "Beauty & Youth. Also, I think the silhouette is the most distinctive feature of the Monster Parka, and since the inline version was so highly finished, I didn't change that part, but I added a drawcord to the hem so that you can change the silhouette to your liking. The logo on the sleeves of the inline version is printed, so I decided to embroider the logo in the same color.

What kind of styling would you recommend for a "town wear" theme?

I think it would be good to have it paired with a traditional style that is typical of "Beauty & Youth," with a knit and shirt. A stainless steel collar coat would be too obvious, so I think that daring to wear a monster parka with a clean outfit would be an effective way to add a bit of a twist.
