The best of old and new. A popular stylist talks about and wears the latest Converse models.
Old meets New.

A good combination of old and new.
Popular stylists talk about and wear the latest Converse models.

Everyone has worn a pair of "Converse" sneakers at least once. While they have firmly established themselves as a standard, they have actually improved with each passing season by adding new details. We asked stylists Yuta Kaji, Arata Kobayashi, and Toshi Katagai to try on the latest three models, which look classic but are also easy to wear.

CASE 01_YUTA KAJI ×
ALL STAR US COLORS HI / OX

The lack of a solid image is the all-star attraction.

. Please tell us about your history with "Converse" so far.

I bought my first pair of black "All Star" high-cut shoes when I was a freshman in high school. I think I was about 19 years old, but there were no one else wearing them at the time, and I liked how easy they were to wear.

Do you have any rules when you usually choose sneakers?

. something that doesn't get in the way of the outfit and doesn't make too much of a statement. . so I have always worn black low tech sneakers for the last 20 years or so.

Converse, especially "All Star," seems to match your taste.

. I like the fact that there is no fixed image of "that culture" or "who wore them". Personally, I was thinking of wearing "All Star" shoes at the right time. Because, right now, I'm wearing a pair of "All-Stars".Sanse SanseI was directing a brand called "All Star," and I was allowed to use a lot of "All Star" in the looks for their 2020SS season. I didn't want to create a too categorized portrait of a person, and I wanted it to be free to be seen and received by anyone. I think that's where "all-star" worked just fine.

What kind of coordination do you recommend?

Nowadays, it might be interesting to wear them with thick sweatpants. Also, this may be a bit of a tangent, but I personally have a favorite way of wearing "All Star" sneakers. Do you know the feeling of a girl who is not used to wearing sneakers wearing "All-Stars" for the time being because she does not know what to buy? I really like that "off-the-boards" feeling. There is a tendency among men to think that "Converse" shoes must be worn well, but I like the freshness of them! I would like to express that in my own way someday.

I'm proud to be an All Star beginner, straight out of the box.

. Since it's spring, I went with a bright color for now. I'm a newcomer to "All Star," so I think it's fine if I choose straight, standard denim and wear them without hesitation. In fact, like the girl I mentioned earlier, I would like to wear them in a style that would make people think, "This guy doesn't look good on me" (laughs).

The look is classic,
Functionality is modern All Star.
