WAVES" is a new film released by A24, a film studio that has been releasing a succession of high-profile films such as "Moonlight," "Lady Bird," and "Midsummer" and bringing a new style of filmmaking to Hollywood. The heart-stopping storyline, the fantastic visual beauty of the colors, and the 31 songs by gorgeous artists that support the storyline make this new film even more colorful and sublime. The film is described as "more than a musical, it's a playlist movie." We remotely interviewed actors, designers, models, and comedians who were moved by the film. We will be looking at the appeal of this film along with the playlists they have selected.

Story
The waves of love wash away today's hurt and unhealed pain.

High school student Tyler is an elite athlete on the wrestling team with high grades and a beautiful girlfriend, Alexis. Although he feels distant from his strict father Ronald, he grew up in a privileged family and lived a life without any inconvenience. Then one day, unfortunately, an injury to his shoulder is discovered, and the doctor tells him that his life as an athlete is in jeopardy. Then, as if to add insult to injury, he discovers that his girlfriend is pregnant. Tyler's life is slowly going out of control, and he finds himself at the mercy of the wheels of life. Then one night, a tragedy occurs that changes the fate of Tyler and his family.
A year later, Emily's younger sister, Luke, who knows all the circumstances of her life but still likes her, appears before Emily, who has kept her heart closed. Emily is touched by Luke's clumsy kindness and gradually opens up to him. They eventually fall in love, but Luke has his own heartbreak as well. The two then take certain actions for the sake of their mutual future. ......

01 I'm glad they are alive there, with all their weakness.

What were your honest impressions of the film?

I thought this was a work that depicted the beauty and weakness of human beings in a story that could not be better told. We can love someone and we can hurt them. We cannot live alone without making meaningless jokes, hugging each other, and confirming our love. It is vain to gain something from our failures, but I wish we could look straight at them. It is human beings who hurt others, and it is also human beings who can love. It may be cheap to put it in words, but that may be the only thing I felt when I saw this film.

I think you expressed these universal conflicts that people face with beautiful images.

Yes, it was. Even on a night that was hopeless for someone, or a moment so painful that they could hardly breathe, the light reflected in the film was hauntingly beautiful. The sunset, the sparkle of the water, and the beauty of living things will always be there, and the memories will always remain. I was glad they lived there. That's how I felt.

I think the music symbolizes the work as well as the images. How did you feel about that?

I think that many of the songs were linked to the feelings of the characters, rather than being songs to enhance a scene. It was as if we, the listeners, could feel the temperature flowing through their bodies. There were some painful scenes, but there were also many scenes that made me feel happy.

What was the most memorable scene for you?

It's the scene where Emily and her father are talking in front of the lake. Whether they are parents or children, if they don't support each other, they will crumble. They both seemed to be vulnerable for the first time. A painful but loving moment. I couldn't help but love them. Maybe I was watching the movie because I saw myself and my parents in the same light. I can't say it very well, but it was a wonderful time.

No. 1
IFHY (feat. Pharrell)

Tyler the Creator

The scene where the main character, Tyler, explodes for the first time. It is conveyed more by the music linked to his feelings.

No.2
Love is a losing game

Amy Winehouse.

At first I thought it was a nice song, but when I heard it in the scene, I thought it was interesting because it foreshadowed the end that was about to come for them.

No.03
FloriDada

animal collectives

I felt the beauty of life.

No.04
Pretty Little Birds (feat. Isaiah Rashad))

SZA

I love the lyrics. It seems to be singing about Emily. I also like the cute scene between them at the end of the song.
