I heard that for the new collections of "TAGS Working Party" and "Van Gogh Museum," you used white clothing as a canvas on which to print graphics.
Morioka:I am now feeling the power of art in a big way. Whether in classical paintings or contemporary graffiti, art has a mysterious healing power. . It has been a source of support for me when I have been stunned by major disasters.
However, many museums have closed due to the Corona disaster. . This collection was created with the desire to speak to people who have lost their sense of calm like myself. . For example, if someone wears this T-shirt on the train, there may be people who will be healed by seeing the back of the T-shirt. This is the idea behind the design.
You are sublimating art into fashion while sending a message to the times. The combination of modern typography and a soft color palette is fresh. Could you tell us about the source of each quote?
Morioka:For this collaboration, we have selected four paintings from the Van Gogh Museum's collection: "The Yellow House," "Root and Trunk of a Tree," "Almond Flowers in a Glass," and "Sunset over Montmartre. In addition, from Van Gogh's journal, we have selected words that match each painting. I have collaged my own message of what we can learn through the paintings and the power they can give to people.
. I see that the typography also contains a message.
Morioka:For example, in the painting "Roots and Trunks of Trees," I printed typography that means "It is not the painter's words that we should listen to, but nature's words. . It is an expression of the current situation in which I want to accept that I am no match for nature and think about what I can do to help. The painting "Almond Flowers in a Glass" is printed with the words, "Love what you love as much as you love it. . It carries a message of hope that we can immerse ourselves in our creations and hobbies even in our homes.

The painting "The Yellow House" is also impressive.
Morioka:In a way, I created this as a symbol of "TAGS Working Party". Blue is one of the brand's image colors. It is a metaphor for the fact that you first become aware of yourself through the presence of contrasting colors. I have been creating products from multiple perspectives, so I was struck by the phrase, "Without yellow and orange, there would be no blue. . I sympathized with the philosophy.
. I see, there is a story behind it. I heard that this collection is available at "Trading Museum Comme des Garcons Tokyo Midtown" and "District United Arrows".
Morioka:I am very happy to have my favorite store carry my items. I have always respected the selections of "District" and have been greatly influenced by the words of Rei Kawakubo, the designer of "Comme des Garcons," since I was a student there. . I am deeply moved to be able to develop this project at a store that I respect at this time.
