Why we are crazy about bonfires.
Fire Meister Masaya Ino tells his story.

Camping is all the rage right now . Campfires are also booming at an unprecedented rate. In this context, Masaya Ino, a.k.a. "Campfire Meister," has published his first book, "The Book of Campfires. Why are people attracted to flickering flames? Writer Issey Enomoto, an old acquaintance of Mr. Ino's and a fellow bonfire lover, sat down with him around a bonfire to talk about all things bonfire-related.

At first I didn't know what was so interesting.

When and why did you start making bonfires in the first place?

Inono:About five years ago, I was talking with an acquaintance of mine, a former Popeye's editor, and he said to me, "Ino, your parents have a lot of land, don't they? Then, you should start a bonfire, do YouTube or something with it, and make a business out of it.

Wow. That's quite a prediction.

Inono:. At the time, it was so abrupt that it didn't ring a bell at all. However, it was true that my parents had an extra piece of land, and they had a lot of free time on their hands at the time. I decided to give it a try, and together with my father, I cleared the wooded area of my parents' house, built a wooden deck, attached a hammock, and set up a space for a campfire. We built a wooden deck, added a hammock, and set up a space for a fire. We tried camping there, but to be honest, we had no idea what the fun was about at first. I thought, "If I want to sleep, it would be more comfortable at home.

After that, why did you get so involved with bonfires?

Inono:Rather than getting actively involved myself, I simply responded to the requests of those around me. When an editor I knew asked me for advice on a location for a photo shoot, I lent him the space, and when a friend said, "If you have a bonfire, let's do it," I joined him.

You didn't pursue the bonfire path on your own initiative, but were greatly influenced by the people around you.

Inono:In my life, I have never really thought about what I wanted to do or how I wanted to do it when I started an action.
There were people around me who had strong wills and energy, and all I could think about was meeting their expectations and needs. In the case of the bonfire, it was not about my own will, but about the expectations of the people around me, and I responded to their expectations, and before I knew it, this is what I had become.
