Don't say don't try so hard .

I feel that many people have learned from Tamio and Unicorn the aesthetics of appearing to be lazy but working extremely hard behind the scenes, but not showing it.
Okuda: In a nutshell, I guess I'm a different character (laughs). Some people are cool in the way they work hard. On the other hand, who would think I'm cool if I'm ummm... doing something serious? . and I think to myself. So I say, "It's a piece of cake. . But I've come to understand it that way, you know, because it's a gradual process. When I came out of Hiroshima, I didn't understand anything. There are all kinds of people in the world, and even when it comes to cool music, there are many different directions of "cool," but we were just trying to figure out what we were going to do that was different.
So, you did some sort of calculation there?
Okuda: That's how I've been thinking about it. . it is important to say, "No one else is doing this. While we were doing this, the trend that it is important to work hard became stronger and stronger in the world! and there are songs that cheer people on in an easy-to-understand way. But you can't win by going in that direction, so we gradually began to take shape, and this is what we are doing now (laughs).

I don't mean to cut down on society, but don't you think that today's world is becoming more and more "work hard" and "move up, move up, move up"?
Okuda: Basically, you have to work hard, so I don't think we should tell people not to work hard. I think it's important to look at people who are trying, and be impressed by their efforts, and I don't want to go to the extreme of saying that we should rest all the time. I don't want to go to the extreme of saying, "Well, which is it? I don't want to go to the extreme of saying, "Well, which is it? Well, actually, I am shy...but my shyness has been getting better recently (laughs). . It's no use being shy.
It is encouraging to hear that people can change no matter how old they are (laughs). Time is running out, so do you have any final message for Mr. Kayama, who is celebrating the 60th anniversary of his career in show business?
Okuda: Sixty years in show business is really a great thing. It is a tremendous thing, and it is a great joy to be a part of it. I am afraid to say that I would like to be like Kayama-san, who has been doing this for a long time (laughs).
