The latest in comfort, ideal for everyday use and skating.
How do you feel when you actually try them on?
Sasamoto:I like the rubber strap on the shoe tongue to prevent shifting. It fits well.

Asai:Yes, they are. I wear "old school" a lot, but these hold up better. I can wear them without laces, so I think they are fashionable.
Kajiya:I've already had the black ones on and I've only pushed them on, but they were comfortable. The heel also holds up well.
Shimada:The heel counter has also been improved. The shape has changed, and it is now covered with a checkerboard covering. The heel is stiffer than the "Pro Skate".

You also have a new insole, right?
Shimada:Yes, we do. It's an insole called a "popcush," and it's ergonomically designed with a groove pattern that matches the area of the foot where the load is applied. The heel is thick and cushioned, and the toe is thin and stable.

Asai:I walk a lot, so I'm glad to see the increased cushioning.
Kajiya:Yes, it is. They are quite easy to walk in. I tend to injure my heel when landing on skates, so the increased cushioning is helpful. The toe is thinner, which is also good because it makes it easier to feel the deck.
Shimada:Also, the inside of the toe fabric, which is prone to abrasion from the deck tape, is now filled with DuraCap, a rubberized material that is more breathable and lightweight.

Kajiya:I like suede because of its good grip and durability. The combination of canvas and suede is in good shape.
Shimada:The canvas has also been updated and is less prone to wear and tear. Many people wanted a retro design and silhouette of the "Vans," so a major challenge for "Skate Classics" was to update the overall comfort while keeping it close to the original.

Asai:I like to dig up the past, and I think it is a fun part of fashion to learn about the culture of the time. So being able to come into contact with something close to the original is appealing.
Sasamoto:I've worn many pairs of "Vans" and know how comfortable they are, so when I'm wearing different skates and feel they're not quite right, I go back to "Vans". I can't wait to skateboard in them!
Kajiya:I think it's the same with fashion, but skateboarding is all about style. It was the Dogtown generation like Tony Alba and others who brought style to skateboarding, and I think it's goofy that the shoes are close to the early "Vans" that the first generation was involved with. The fact that the classic silhouette and design have evolved in terms of comfort makes them the best shoes for skaters and fashion.

Designed for skaters and featuring tough construction in iconic classic silhouettes, the new "Skate Classics" line includes the Skate Authentic, Skate Slip-On, Skate Sk8-Hi, Skate Old Skool and Skate Era collections.
