What are some of the points to consider when choosing skateboarding shoes?
Morning life:. It's design over function. I choose to wear this color or that color with these pants.
Sugino:I'm like that too. The silhouette of the foot is important. I like a slightly slender form, and I liked "Saddle Sid" from Vans.
Hotta:I also choose a design that fits my mood. After all, as long as it looks cool, I'm good.
Do you get any feedback from your customers about the "Vans"?
Hotta:The ease of skating is probably the main reason why customers are buying "Vans".
Sugino:Yes, they are. But even customers who don't skateboard say that the skate line is comfortable to wear. There are many standard models, so it's nice to be able to buy the same ones even if you wear them out.
Morning life:Personally, I like the fact that the design has always remained the same.
Hotta:For example, there are people who have a routine of wearing only "Vans," such as those who continue to wear "Half Cabs" but change to "Old Schools" when they feel like a change.
Morning life:Our lineup is centered on classic models, and we try to bring in models that fit the mood of the moment on a quick basis.
Hotta:Among them, "slip-ons" may be quite popular.
Morning life:There are people who say they only wear this model of "Vans.
What kind of skate brands are popular these days?
Hotta:In our case, Polar (Polar Skate Co.) and YARDSALE are popular.
Morning life:Yard Sale" leaves a strong impression on me. Curtis Pearl, a Vans rider, also belongs to Yard Sale, and his checker "slip-ons" look really cool on him. So many people wear both "Vans" and "Yard Sale" together.
Sugino:Also, many of our customers buy "Dickies" and "Vans" together.
Hotta:Vans" are easy to match with both denim and corduroy. I think that any pair of pants with "Vans" will look cool in a straightforward manner.
Sugino:I also like the "old school" look with the thick nylon pants, it's cool.
The new skate line "Skate Classics" now has a checkerboard pith name, what do you think?
Morning life:I like it , yes.
Sugino:They're not too assertive , and they're nice. I also like the shine on the sole.
The finish is close to the retro model , and it is easy to remove stains.
Hotta:I think it has a nice atmosphere. Well, I don't mind if it gets dirty (laughs).
Morning life:It's so much cooler to be dirty (laughs).
Do you see a retro trend in fashion as well?
Hotta:Yes, I agree. I feel like we are going back to the 90's or early 2000's , like the size of the pants.
Sugino:There are a lot of them . . or rather, it is based on it.
How do you feel about the comfort of "Skate Classics"?
Sugino:I think it's good that the tan doesn't move with the band, so I don't have to worry about it.
Morning life:The Vans have been in good shape, but now they're even better.
Sugino:My first pair of skate shoes were "Authentic", but the "Skate Classics" have a thicker insole and are completely different. The ones I wore were made of regular canvas, but the toes are suede, and I'm glad to see that they are more abrasion-resistant.
Hotta:It's a small detail, but I didn't mind the corners of the outsole. As soon as I put the new ones on, I could feel the sole sticking snugly to the deck.
The sole is slightly shaped and nipped in. . That may have influenced the design.
Sugino:It's definitely shaping up. But I adjusted to it right away, so I was in good shape.
