Sneaker Freak's Realistic Shoe Selection.
Vol.7 Yuki Naito

The sneaker market continues to expand, with the latest performance shoes, limited editions, collaborations, faithful reissues, and even top maisons participating. What are the perspectives of the sneaker experts, what models do they choose, and what do they actually wear? We will introduce the real shoe choices of the best sneaker freaks in the industry in a relay format. This time, Yuki Naito, a buyer for "Journal Standard," was introduced by Ken Kagami in the previous issue. We asked her to name five pairs that she particularly likes these days, and asked her why she chose each of them and what she likes about them.

01:NIKE_WMNS SHOX TL NOVA High-tech feel reminiscent of a Dyson vacuum cleaner.

. Today, Naito-san, please tell us about your latest favorite sneakers. Let's start with these "Shox" by Nike. The coloring has quite a strong impact.

Naito:I bought these exactly because I like the color. It kind of looks like a Dyson vacuum cleaner (laughs) . about a year ago, I was checking out the Nike website for some high-tech sneakers and found these.

What kind of clothes do you wear these sneakers with?

Naito:I tend to wear them with skirts and girly outfits. The shoes themselves have presence, so they add volume to even the simplest outfits.

02:CONVERSE_ALL STAR Made in Japan "All Star".

Next is the "All Star" by Converse. This is a classic model that needs no explanation, but is it one of your favorite sneakers?

Naito:Yes, "All Star" is a very classic for me. I used to have a pair exactly like these, but they were so worn in that they got dirty, so I just bought a new pair. By the way, this is a made-in-Japan model.

What is the appeal of "All-Star" to you, Mr. Naito?

Naito:I can wear them with any outfit, and they are simple and never get old. I will probably continue to wear them.

03:VANS_OLD SKOOL The worn sole is a sign of favoritism.

Next up is "Vans. This is also a very standard item, but I think this patterned fabric is rare.

Naito:I bought these because I love the pattern. It's been about 5 years now and I like it so much I wear it all the time.

. Yes, they are very well worn.

Naito:Yes, to the point that the soles are worn out and falling apart (laughs). I can match them with any outfit, so I tend to wear them all the time.

04:GRAVIS×TENBOX_LOAFER Nice pair of leather shoes and sneakers.

Next, we have "Gravis. Are these loafers or sneakers? Or sneakers?

Naito:. a collaboration between "Gravis" and "Tenbox," which was previously carried at "Journal Standard. They look like loafers, but they feel like sneakers. I often wear them with menswear, such as a long T-shirt and thick pants.

05:EYTYS_JET COMBO I love the anonimous design.

. Last but not least is "Eighties". . This is a simple, basic design.

Naito:I bought it about a year ago. The point of my choice was that it is tacky cool or a little bit sparse. I like that it is hard to tell at a glance which brand they are from. . I tend to wear them with clean clothes, such as a shirt and slacks.

The choice of sneakers is a matter of coordination.

What kind of sneakers are popular among women these days, from a select store buyer's point of view?

Naito:Basic sneakers such as "Converse" and "Vans" are still very popular, but recently high-tech sneakers such as "Nike" and "Hoka Oneone" are also gaining attention. New sneakers are coming out all the time. I try to keep up with what's new on social networking sites and the Internet.

. The five pairs you listed this time are a wide variety of styles, some flashy and high-tech, and some simple and classic. What do you look for when selecting sneakers?

Naito:For men, I think most of them start from their strength when choosing sneakers, but I tend to choose sneakers from a coordinating point of view, such as a quick look or how they go with my clothes.

It is true that men and women often have slightly different criteria for selecting sneakers. This Series has always been about men, so it was interesting to hear a woman's point of view this time. Well, I could go on and on, but I think it's time to send your friends to .......

Naito:Meet Ryu Kamiya, a planner for men's wear at Journal Standard . He seems to like sneakers a lot, so I'm sure he can name a lot of interesting things.

I'm looking forward to it. Thank you very much for your time today!
