Pump Day feat.

Where KREVA's fashion and music are now.

On May 15 (Sat), Reebok will reissue the first color of the Instapump Fury (hereinafter referred to as "Pump Fury"), known as "Citron," for a limited run in Japan. This is an attempt to celebrate "Pump Day" in 2020. To mark the occasion, Reebok has released a movie featuring KREVA, a well-known Pump Fury user. We took advantage of this opportunity to ask KREVA about his current lifestyle, from fashion to music, not to mention "Pump Fury.

KREVA
Hip-hop artist, singer-songwriter, and music producer.

A classic pair, not in a high-tech sense.

KREVA-san, I have the impression that you wear "Pump Fury" on a regular basis. When did you start wearing them?

I traced them back to when I used to wear them as a costume. The first time I wore them was maybe 15 years ago. I wore them at a summer festival and received them as they were, so I started using them on a regular basis.

KREVA's favorite "Pump Fury" products.

A pair made for the "10th Anniversary Year KREVA Live House Tour 2014 "K10"". The name is embroidered on the heel.

KREVA: You also made the original color "Pump Fury" for the stage, didn't you?

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of my solo debut, I produced a line of goods featuring the colors that had been my theme colors up to that point. I made them from fabric and used them as stage costumes, but I was talking with my stylist about shoes that would go with them, and we came up with these "Pump Fury" shoes. Even looking at them now, I think they are a good design as an object.

What do you think of the first color of the sneakers you are wearing today, known as "Citron"? This sneaker symbolizes the high-tech sneaker movement that continues to this day.

Once again, this design is amazing, isn't it? It's not just a sense of omission, but it is omission (laughs). I can feel even now that you were trying to do something different. At first, I think I wore them with shorts and styling that showed my bare feet, but at the time there were a lot of flashy costumes, so I couldn't help but feel that normal shoes would lose out to the outfits.

That said, high-cut shoes are not suitable for summer and are difficult to stage. On the other hand, "Pump Fury" is easy to move in and out of. I think that's what appealed to me. As I learned more about various things, I realized how great they were, and now they feel more like a classic than a high-tech shoe to me.

Do you still have the impression that "Pump Fury" is "Citron"?

Yes, there are. I once bought a pair of "Pump Fury" shoes in the same color scheme, but in a different color quantity and a different shape, thinking, "Here it is. But the coloring was still exquisitely different, so I thought, "Something is a little different...". I had a strong feeling that it was a different product, even though it used the same colors.

Flags have the same coloring, but they give different impressions depending on their placement, don't they? In the same way, I realized that this color distribution was important. Also, the silhouette of that model is sharp. At the time I bought the sneakers, I thought that was a good thing, but I realized that the thickness and roundness of the sneaker were also important. I think that's what gives them a classic look.

Do you have a particular style of shoes you like to wear?

In terms of the particulars of these shoes, I'm a non-pumping person. If I have to pump, it's only when I have to run, like when I have to get a fast pass. (Laughs). Recently, I often wear thicker pants, so the volume without pumping is just right for me. Sometimes I want to pump, but I end up pulling it out.

KREVA: So, as an extension of your footwear, please tell us about your current sense of fashion.

I have been dressed like a ninja for the past few years. I've been dressed like a ninja for the past several years, and today is no exception. Incidentally, I heard that real ninjas did not wear black. They wore navy blue or brown because they had to fit in with the people on the street.

I didn't know that! (laughs). How did you come to use black as the base color?

For a while, our costumes were all colorful. I wore fluorescent yellow all over, fringed clothes like Presley, and sometimes I looked like a walking shrine (laughs). (Laughs.) So maybe it was a reaction to that.

At the same time, I started wearing COMME des GARÇONS Homme Princes, and I think that's when I started to go all black. That's why I like to wear colorful sneakers on my feet. Of course, there are many times when I choose monotone.

I see that your "Instapump Fury Boost" is monotone.

Yes, I saw it on the Internet and thought it was this one that came when it came out, and I said, "Get it any way you can" (laughs). What about this rubber band at first? I thought, "It's novel. I thought, "Wow, they are very fresh. I was happy when I first put them on.

KREVA: Recently, I think many people have changed their fashion style because they don't go out as often.

I knew I was less likely to buy clothes, no matter how much I was into the brand I was into. I didn't pick up anything that was out of my consciousness, perhaps because I didn't need to, which was unusual for me.

There is not such a big change, but if I had to say, I would say that I have started wearing clothes with a larger size feel. I have a sense that I am getting back to the size I was when I was 19 or early 20 years old. I never used to wear anything that tight, but I guess I am keeping up with the times, and I feel like I am wearing a larger size.
