Please give us a brief history of your outdoor gear.
At first, it was just a messy camping trip, with only a net and some driftwood to burn. After that, I brought a lot of tools and started group camping, and now I sometimes cut down on what I bring and enjoy camping as if I were camping solo. I change the style of barbecue and camping depending on the number of people going.
You have published many barbecue cookbooks.
I have a lot of recipe creations. I have published 12 books so far, about 70 recipes per book, so I guess I have just under 1,000. Some of them may be covered (laughs).
I was surprised to see you cooking today, throwing instant rice into a frying pan out of the blue.
I had never done it before, but I thought I could do it (laughs). It's okay if I fail (laughs). Today's theme was solo camping, so I was set in a setting where I couldn't bring that much luggage, so I tried to pull out what I could. Usually, my first meal is usually "Cup Noodles," but the "Cup Noodles" I eat at places like this are so good, I can't get enough of them.

I change it up, like curry when I go fishing and seafood when I go to the beach (laughs).

I dress it right here with salt and pepper and a tube of garlic. You can go home and soak it, but it's enough to do it here because it will taste the same as it always does with yakiniku sauce.
Do you change your cooking style when you have more people?
I would take a Dutch oven and focus on dishes that look spectacular, such as stews and aqua pazza.
What are the latest trends in the camping scene?
Solo camping has increased. I guess men like to spend time with the fire. More people are enjoying the real thrill of camping by solo camping, and more people are pursuing a deeper style of camping.
