What are your favorite lures and what are the best lures to catch fish?

HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB started its activities this month. Our first fishing trip, which we took on with almost no experience, we didn't catch any fish and lost a lot of money. ...... However, our enthusiasm only grew as some members headed off to practice on their own and added new equipment! Now that we have experienced how good it feels to be in touch with nature, the next step is to touch black bass. How can we catch them? Watching YouTube is a good way to learn, but what we really want to hear is what our seniors have to say. So we asked everyone from fishermen in the fashion industry to builders of handmade lures to share their tips on how to catch fish. One of the best parts of fishing is the chance to see some of their favorite lures and the rods and reels they use, and ask them questions about this and that. Everyone had a strong love for fishing, and they talked for a long time, repeatedly going off on tangents!

Q. First of all, what do you find interesting about fishing?

The thing is that I can make friends through fishing with people from other industries that I would not normally get to know if I were playing as usual. I like meeting people and I enjoy that!

How do you analyze the reason why you are able to catch fish?

I think that finding a lure that you can handle with confidence is a big part of the process. As you fish more and more times, you will learn how to match bites and know where and when to use the lure. As you increase the number of such lures, you will be able to catch more fish.

Do you have any particular tools that you use?

I choose rods that are specialized in design. For example, the specs of the rod I use are a little over-specified for reservoirs (dam lakes) in the Kanto region. It is more like a rod for targeting large bass in Lake Biwa. But I use it because it looks cool. I wouldn't buy it just because it's cool. I want to fish with it because it looks cool! I value the design that makes you think, "I want to fish with this because it's cool!

Guncraft x Flagstaff Jointed Craw Shift 183 "Natural Bone"

This lure is cool!

It is the "Jointed Craw," a collaboration with "GAN CRAFT" by Nobu-san (Flagstaff designer, Yasuyuki Murayama), a senior fishing buddy of mine. When I tried it, the movement was great. I caught a sea bass in the ocean, but I haven't caught a black bass yet, so I want to catch one anyway.

Depth MT. wake

Do you have a favorite lure maker?

Depths offers many lures that are different from other manufacturers, and I like them because they have their own unique characteristics. MT. Wake" has a retro topwater nuance, but the lip has a crankbait element to it, making it cute. When it rains or when it is active, I just throw it out and hope for a shot.

Depth Sliphead Jig / Bull Flat

What kind of lures do you use most often?

The combination of "Sliphead Jig" and "Bull Flat" by Depths is the most frequently used combination. I can move them three-dimensionally. They don't easily get caught on roots, so I can research the depth and topography of the water. It can be used in a variety of fields.
