I wanted to combine a classically designed frame with thick tires like a mountain bike and ride it on the dirt. I wanted to build a bike with a classic design frame and big tires like a mountain bike to ride on the dirt. It doesn't go very fast. It's not cool because it's fast, and it's good for a leisurely ride.

Rivendell Bicycle Works' style is to wrap the grips with sailboat sail yarn. The leather saddle has a nice taste and fits perfectly.
