I think it is rare for a rapper to work as an actor in Japan nowadays. I felt that your attitude of challenging yourself to do something different from others has something in common with Vans' slogan "OFF THE WALL" (= breaking the mold).
I never really thought much about it myself, but I think that opportunities to experience things for the first time are rare as an adult. I am now before 40 years old and still experiencing many firsts. I'm sure I'll get angry and I'll make mistakes, but I try to look at it positively, thinking that because it's my first time, it's something that happens to everyone. I think I gain more experience every time I try something new, like when I rap or jump into a play, so I think that's where I find myself wanting to be excited.
I see. What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to try something new?
That is exactly what "OFF THE WALL" means. I think it can be taken not only to mean unconventional in the eyes of others, but also to mean the idea of breaking one's own mold. I think it is a perfect word to encourage someone.
