Strong fishing" while protecting against rain and cold!
Lake Ashinoko was the first lake in Japan to release black bass in 1925. Rainbow trout, brown trout, and brown trout are also released into the lake, and in addition to game fishing for these fish, wakasagi fishing and spoonbill fishing are also popular.
There are rules on this lake , worms are not allowed. We have to use plugs and wire baits, which is a bit of a hurdle. Looking back on our past results, most of the lures we caught were worms. However, since we will be guided by the guys from "DAIWA" this time as well, I am sure we will be fine! A few days before the trip, we had been discussing on the group line whether we were going to do "strong fishing" using the lures we wanted to throw, or "solid fishing" prioritizing the catch. What kind of preparation did the members do this time?

Deputy Editor, HOUYHNHNM
Director of HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB . . "We can't use worms, so we've got some new minnows and shad. But just in case, I also prepared a pork lure made of pigskin, which can be used in Lake Ashi where worms cannot be used. I'm going to fish hard and catch one anyway!"
Yasuyuki Murayama (middle right)
F-LAGSTUF-F Designer
He loves fishing so much that he has collaborated with Abu Garcia and GAN CRAFT. I brought big baits and large minnows in hopes of catching some big bass in shallow water," he said. I'm going to do "strong fishing.
Junpei Ichikawa (middle left)
o.r. Representative / Editor
He is involved in marketing and media production for all kinds of brands. I had a line that everyone was going to "fish strong," but I wanted to fish hard, so I bought the weakest pork for the first time in my long history of bass fishing (laughs).
Shogo Komatsu (left)
writer
. writes mainly for magazines and webzines. . "This time I wanted to catch trout rather than black bass , so I bought a trout lure. I want to catch some brown trout and have them for dinner! I've been having a string of bad luck lately, so I'm going to fish for both trout and bass."
Fumihiko Ikemoto
photographer
. He is active in magazines, websites, and advertisements, and also handles outdoor photography. When I was at Lake Ashinoko the last time, I caught bluegill using a poke, so I brought it this time, too," he said. But I want to do 'strong fishing' today, so I'm going to use plugs only, not pokes.

Bass fishing offers a lot of freedom in clothing, but on this day it was raining. So, what kind of rainproof measures are the members taking? . Since this is an unannounced check, a few corners are cut.

Murayama:About two years ago, I wore a pair of overalls from F-LAGSTUF-F, which I made for fishing, with a short jacket over them. . Because of the rain, I chose one with seam tape. The armholes of the jacket are designed to be thicker , so it is easy to move my arms. Shoes are GORE-TEX and rubberized, U.S. "CONVERSE" shoes. The hat is a special order for ArkAir by "Flagstaff," which will be released this season. I try to wear subdued colors, as loud colors make buses wary of me.

Ishii:The jacket is by DAIWA PIER39. It is water repellent, so it should be able to withstand today's rain. The pants are Needles track pants, which I wear five or six days a week. I am used to wearing them and they are easy to move in, so they are perfect for fishing. They are made of jersey material, so they dry quickly. I wear a HEATTECH underneath, so it's not as cold as I thought it would be. My ears are also warm with a hair band from "South2 West8! The key to this outfit is to blend in with the natural surroundings by using a green color scheme.

Ichikawa:Anyway, it's cold and raining, so I'm wearing waterproof sneakers from Keen and packable rain pants that I always keep in my fishing gear to keep my feet cool. I thought my jacket, a mountain parka, would be oiled, but it did not repel water at all and was nice and cool. . I'm wearing a parka, inner down, and an inner layer of "Icebreaker" inside, so I can get by. . Everyone often wears black or earth colors, so I dared to choose a white jacket.

Komatsu:The jacket is a rainwear from " The North Face ". . I bought it for mountain climbing, so I want to be careful not to puncture it with a needle. I'm wearing U.S. Army overpants over my "DAIWA PIER39" cargo pants to protect me from the rain. They are supposed to be GORE-TEX, but they feel somewhat damp ....... Shoes are the "adidas TERREX" shoes I always wear when playing outside. They are also GORE-TEX and have a good grip, so you can rest assured that your feet are safe.

Ikemoto:I chose the Colorado Kagool jacket from "WILDTHINGS" for my jacket. I chose the long length so that my hips would not get wet when I sit down in the rain. The pants are by HELLY HANSEN . They are waterproof, so there is no need to worry about getting wet. The shoes are a collaboration model released by "ELNEST" and "KEEN" the year before last. They are winter boots, but light and easy to wear. Of course, they are also waterproof.
