How Stylists Use Danner x Briefing Items Vol.1 Naoki Ikeda

Danner" and "BRIEFING" have always valued their identities and have continued to create robust products, no matter what the times have been like. The two companies have come together to launch a new line of bags and shoes. How superior are these masterpieces created under the keyword of "toughness"? How do two stylists, who wander the streets daily in search of inspiration, shoot in various environments, and are particular about their bags and shoes, use the items? The first is Naoki Ikeda, who, in addition to his work as a stylist, has recently been attracting attention for his extremely personal exhibitions.

The toughness of both is both in the studio and on location.

Do you usually wear "Danner" shoes?

Ikeda:Actually, I am quite attached to it. (When I went to Oregon in 2009 (where Danner is headquartered), I wanted to buy a Danner in Oregon, but I didn't have time. Later, I went to a serious mountain store in New York called Tent and Trails, and I bought it twice, the first time because I failed to choose the right size, and the second time I went back and bought it again (laughs).

What are your impressions of "Briefing," on the other hand?

Ikeda:It's like The American Mil-Spec. You have been making tough military-derived products for a long time. . I also like the use of webbing belts and ballistic nylon. Also, Briefing's special orders always catch my attention. I feel that when they mix with another brand, they shine even brighter. This one is just like that. By the way, these shoes have shark soles.

They are for mountaineering. . The deep indentations provide a firm grip on wet or rocky surfaces, while also providing excellent cushioning.

Ikeda:. I felt a sense of stability after all. Also, when it comes to styling, boots make you look hard, but low-cut boots don't make you look so heavy. Recently, there are many styles that have more volume on the feet, so I think they are easy to use. Both the shoes and the bag seem to be easy to use both in the city and on location. They don't get tired even if they are used roughly.

. In terms of coordination, I thought the pink socks were very typical of Ikeda-san.

Ikeda:Lately, I've been wanting to take my socks off. Pink is surprisingly good for such occasions. It is a little embarrassing to wear it, but it is just right to show a glimpse of it. It also makes you look more pale.

I have the image of stylists with a lot of stuff, but do you like tote bags?

Ikeda:I tote bags more often than not. I like the fact that it doesn't interfere with my jacket.

What do you look for in a tote bag?

Ikeda:. that it's not stressful to get things in and out, and that it's easy to put down. This tote bag stands on its own and has plenty of storage for small items, so it's quite easy to use.

What kind of work tools do you carry with you?

Ikeda:Notebook, notebook, business cards, tea, charger, and a small container with scissors or something in it. That's all . That's pretty small. Storage is not a problem with this tote bag.

Do you have any of the three sacred tools of a stylist?

Ikeda:Not everyone has one, but it would look cool to have one . For example, when I work at a film festival where there are many celebrities, I can put a clothes brush in the back pocket of my pants as a sort of marker. A senior stylist whom I respect did this, so I imitate him (laughs).

I thought it would be better than using adhesive tape to roll out the stains.

Ikeda:For sand and dust, I can get it off more reliably with a brush. . I also have a small stainless steel dusting brush. If I'm careless with the small ones, the whole place looks a little bit of a mess (laughs).

. From the performer's point of view, it makes me feel better to have the hair brushed at the end of the show.

Ikeda:I feel like using a brush for the final touch sends it off for me, too. It seems a little ritualistic, but I'm willing to let you do a little of that as well (laughs).
