Item01_ Music T-Shirt

Nakano:Let me start. First of all, I'll start with the recent music T's. When dealing with vintage clothing, there is a tendency that current items are hard to wear. But if you look carefully, you can find a lot of good looking ones. This Billy Irish is a prime example. This is about 3 years old, right?

Izmt:I think it's about 2018. the best one.
Hatanaka:This is just plain cool.
Nakano:The graphics are good, and the prints are silk (screen) printed. The fact that it is a merchandising item, but made with their own special care, is a point that I can appreciate. In fact, the price has already gone up a bit, and I expect it to exceed Bjork's price of 200,000 yen in 20 years (laughs).
By the way, I know many of our readers don't really understand the difference between silkscreen and other types of screen printing.
Izmt:Silk screen printing is interesting because of the blurring that occurs depending on the skill of the craftsman, but inkjet technology has evolved tremendously in recent years, and to be honest, it is difficult to judge the quality of the work at a glance.
Hatanaka:So what is the criterion?
Izmt:The unevenness of the ink that you can see when you touch it. Recently, there is a method called "white solid" in which inkjet prints are placed on top of white silkscreened prints, so it is sometimes difficult to tell even if you touch it. Besides, this is made in the UK, right? We have decided that there is no factory in the UK that can print with inkjet. ......
Hatanaka:You don't have that in the UK?
Izmt:I think that's the image I had in mind (laughs). But inkjet printing requires maintaining room humidity and running costs, so it is difficult to produce inkjet prints unless you have a large factory. So, since the number of factories in Japan is decreasing, it is possible that 20 years from now, people will be saying, "This is an inkjet, so it is rare. (Laughs.) I think the sense of value in this area will change with the times.
Nakano:Well, whether it is silk-screened or not is one criterion, and I'm just saying that it doesn't have to be that important. And the other one is a live tour T-shirt of The Rolling Stones' 2005 album "A Bigger Bang".

Nakano:The graphics here are fresh, the print is silk, and the body is made of "anvil." The key point is that the three elements of "heart" (design), "technique" (print technology), and "body" (body) are all in place. This is a rock T that can be worn with current products without any sense of discomfort.
Item02_ Disney T-Shirt

Nakano:Next, official Disney T-shirts. I collected some T-shirts that you may not find in other places. This one has Mickey's face in lines, but the ink is very interesting.

Izmt:This is silicon printing. That's the kind of technique that can only be achieved by a company like Disney, which has the capital to produce thousands of copies.
Hatanaka:Wow, even though it's called a print, it has the texture of a sheet being stretched.
Nakano:In our generation, there is a sense that only Mickey from the 80s and 90s is acceptable, but for the children of Generation Z, it's totally fine. In fact, there is a price tag for unusual graphics, with some items costing more than 10,000 yen. For them, it's old enough.
Hatanaka:In the 00's, yes, that's true, it was almost 20 years ago. There are some really cool "Star Wars" T-shirts sold only at Disneyland in the U.S., and it's interesting to see that the Disney genre itself has broadened more than in the past.
Nakano:So, this was a good opportunity for me to change my perception to "even if it is newer, it is acceptable as long as it is interesting". This next one is a bit rare, but you can find it at .......

Hatanaka:The tag says Cast Exclusive Collection, but is it a uniform for employees? Is this a uniform for employees?
Nakano:There is a human resource development institution for employees called Disney University, and this alumni means alumni/alumnae, so to summarize, it's a Disney University Alumni Association T-shirt. I think it's like McDonald's hamburger university.
Hatanaka:This is so rare that it's more likely to be coveted by Disney fans than vintage clothing enthusiasts.
Item03_ GUZUGUZU Print T-Shirt

Nakano:So far, we have featured the high level of printing technology, but this is the exact opposite. It is similar to the misprinted ones introduced in the previous issue, but the biggest difference is that it is a transfer print, not an inkjet or silkscreen. It is already really soggy (laughs).
Izmt:They are all awful (laughs).
Hatanaka:You don't want this design to be in beautiful condition in the first place (smiles).
Nakano:Yes, that's not funny at all. To put it insanely well, it's a denim devil's beard. It looks cool because it's aged so badly. I would freak out if I wasn't under surveillance. The important part of the message from ...... is so blurred that I can't read it anymore.

Izmt:This is a bad idea.
Hatanaka:You see these kinds of stores in the countryside. The sign is missing a letter and has a different meaning.
I think that the message prints are a recent product of Abercrombie and Fitch, but I think that the blurred message prints are a recent product of Abercrombie and Fitch.
Nakano:Yes, yes. There it is, this feeling.
Hatanaka:That one is pretty much the same thing, but isn't this icon-lined home screen-style design also awful?

Izmt:On the back is the "apple" logo, but it is also cut out in a messy, unbelievably cheap-looking way.
Do you get this kind of junk very cheaply when you buy?
Nakano:Yes, I know, I know, I know. Of all the goofs, I've selected only the finest goofs, but I don't think anyone has found value in this one yet (laughs).
Item04_ GANJA T-Shirt

Nakano:The last one is the Ganja story. Although it is now legal in several states in the U.S., until now it was illegal, so many T-shirts with ganja motifs had an underground feel, with cryptic words dropped into the design. Since it was legalized in the 2010s, a variety of pop designs have emerged. Among them, I focused on parodies and collected them here.
Indeed, this one is quite straightforward.

Nakano:It's not just a parody, it's also in good taste, isn't it? The fact that they have come out with something that can be worn under the sun with pride makes me feel that "T-shirts are also a mirror of the times".
Hatanaka:However, if I were to wear any of them in Japan, I would be immediately arrested by the police (laughs).

Izmt:I would never be able to make it to my children's elementary school events. I'm basically a looker, so it's even more difficult for me.
Hatanaka:The impression I give to the people around me is not very good (laughs).
Izmt:Well, leaving my appearance aside, ...... Nakano, the angles of these four genres you chose are all amazing. I think that's all you need to know, don't you? I'm here! That's all I can say. That's why. I wanted to be the first one to show it. ......
Hatanaka:(Laughter). (Laughs) But it is true. The selections were so well-targeted that they were "just like regulars.
