Full name system, body-binding, puns, and a final piece.

Item01_ Full Name T-Shirt

Izmt:Both of them are well selected in the "regular" category.
Izmt, do you have a theme for this year's event?
Izmt:I was also "really eager not to be left out until the last minute," so I made the usual selections. So, ...... first of all, "Paul Smith". There are brands that use the designer's full name, aren't there? Takeo Kikuchi" and "JUNKO KOSHINO" for example. I call them "full name brands.
Nakano:What do you mean? (Laughter).

Izmt:It is my personal theory that full name brands are difficult to be treated as vintage. You've never heard of a vintage Paul Smith, have you? The quality tag shows that the item was released in the early 80's, but it is in good condition, and it is silk-screened in four different colors. I like the fact that the value of the item has not yet been discovered, even though it has been made that far. So, I was not talking about the prints, but about the interesting brand "Paul Smith.

Nakano:The reason why the four-color silk prints look so cool is that they are broken down into four different colors. It also has a somewhat Bruce Weber feel to it.
Hatanaka:That is for sure.
Izmt:This is the kind of good stuff that makes me think that full name brands should not be underestimated.
Item02_ BOATHOUSE ROW T-Shirt

Izmt:Next is Boathouse Row. This is one of GILDAN's body-bound pieces, and is a bit old. The word "body-bound" might be misunderstood in terms of nuance. ......
Hatanaka:(Chuckles) . (Laughs) If it sounds like "bind the body," it is.
Izmt:Yes, yes, not the "Oniroku Dan" kind (laughs). Gildan is a manufacturer of printable bodies that has maintained the top share of the U.S. market for 20 years since the 2000s. Because of its low cost, many brands and companies use it, but because of that, good designs are hard to come by.
I guess you could say that it is a mixture of cobblestones and many stones. By the way, what are the characteristics of the Gildan body?
Izmt:Around 1997, we introduced double stitching ahead of other brands, and after that, there was a feeling that manufacturers followed suit.

Hatanaka:I thought it was the brand "Boat House," but it's not at all (laughs).
Izmt:A lake boat hangout in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, this tourist spot is famous for its illuminated scenery. In other words, it is a Souvenir T, but the feature decomposition skillfully expresses the atmosphere of the light-up.

Nakano:I like this one.
Izmt:By the way, you can only see the view from the other side of the lake, but it seems that there is a highway entrance there, so you can't stop to look at it. Isn't it bad that they have souvenir T-shirts even though you can only see the place in pictures? I also like the sound of "boathouse" because it sounds like Kiyosato in Nagano Prefecture.
Hatanaka:Izmt-chan loves Karuizawa and Kiyosato, right?
Izmt:Yes (laughs). I'm really drawn to vacation homes and other spots that still have that 80's Showa-era feel.
Item03_ The Used T-Shirt

Izmt:This is a band T from the 2000s onward, but it's just a pun to say that the T-shirt of a band called The Used has been used. I guess the genre is post-hardcore. Well, I don't know because I have never heard their music.
All:(Laughter).
I remember last time, there was an artist, but I didn't know who he was.
Izmt:In my case, I only look at whether or not the T-shirt is interesting as a T-shirt. I don't need to support the band with my whole body! I think, "I don't need to support the band with my whole body.
The clothes have been worn a lot and have a used look that lives up to its name.
Izmt:Can you tell that the color fading is different for each part of the body, sleeves, and ribs? This is because the fabric lots are different. You can find them at Champion and Hanes, but they are treated as B-grade items and usually end up in outlet stores.

So, you've come across each other like this.
Hatanaka:The print is all over the ribs, but I wonder if that's the point. It would be better if the overall print position was a little lower.

Izmt:Maybe it was a mistake. But it may be the American or Mexican style of printing without regard to whether the ribs are on or not.
Nakano:He "looks at the body of the garment," not the prints or designs. If it were vintage, of course everyone would have done this, but no one would go that deep with recent items, so it is interesting to see Izmt looking at and digging from that perspective.
Hatanaka:There aren't any, are there, who have such a maniacal view.
Item04_ That's it T-Shirt

Izmt:The last one is here. That's it" printed on the chest translates to "This is the last one" in Japanese. In short, it means, "There's no more, so please give me a break.
All:(Laughter).
A piece with an earnest message. Is it a corporate piece?

Izmt:I'm a little unsure. However, this is one of my picks for "Gildan". If the print were a little more nuanced, it would look like the title of Michael Jackson's last concert, which turned out to be a mirage.
Hatanaka:But if it has ™️ (trademark=trademark) on it, is it some kind of merchandising or something?

Izmt:That's the point. I don't think the phrase "That's It" should have been trademarked in the first place, so I think they just put it on there to make it look like that. But I like this kind of jokey approach, and I think ...... will lead to this regular T-shirt exhibition event T-shirts. I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to make it work. Nakano-kun.
Nakano:That's right.
