A new 69-kilometer division was established! A wider range of participants can now participate.
After two cancellations due to the Corona Disaster, the UTMF was held for the first time in three years, and in addition to the 100-mile UTMF 165k, a new event, the KAI 69k, which is approximately 69 kilometers, was established.
The UTMF 165k is a 100-mile race that starts at Mt. Fuji Kodomonokuni in Shizuoka Prefecture, travels around the foot of Mt. Fuji, and finishes at Fujikyu Highland in Yamanashi Prefecture. The time limit is 44 hours. The number of runners was 1,808.

The newly established KAI69k starts and finishes at Fujikyu Highland in Yamanashi Prefecture. The distance is 69.6 km, the cumulative elevation is 3,675 meters, and the time limit is 20 hours; it is a course around the second half part of the UTMF 165k, allowing a wider range of participants. The number of runners was 489.

For both the UTMF 165k and KAI 69k, you must have competed in and completed a qualifying race within the past two years and earned the specified number of points to be eligible to enter. The reason for these requirements is that both events are grueling competitions that involve running through mountainous terrain for long periods of time, and the purpose is to determine whether or not the contestants have the ability to overcome the rigors of these events and complete the race within the time limit.
