The pockets I've heard rumors about.

I heard that you wear "baggy shorts" on a regular basis.
Makino:It's what I call a staple for me. I wear them all the time, especially in the warmer months. Sleeping, running, working, various things at home, etc. ...... I spend all my time in one pair of "baggy's shorts". Especially when I was at the Corona Disaster Stay Home, I wore two pairs of "Baggies Shorts" in turns every day.
Do you have a preference for 5" or 7" lengths?

Makino:At first I went with 7 inches because they were easy to wear in town or from a fashion point of view, but when I looked around at the trail runners around me, I didn't see anyone wearing 7 inches. As a runner, I thought that 7 inches was a bit of a charade (laughs). I myself am not very happy to be seen as a fashion person; I just feel like a runner. I am an extreme person, and when I realized this, I gave up all the 7-inch shoes I had until then, and limited myself to 5-inch shoes only. But now I regret that I should have kept at least the 7-inch black and beige ones (laughs).
You also wear them for running. What do you like about them from a runner's point of view?
Makino:The wide silhouette with mesh inner is easy to run. Also, I would simply prefer the 5" footprint to the 7".
What do you like about it for everyday use?

Makino:I heard a rumor (ed. note: it was true) that the pockets are designed to be deep enough to hold three tennis balls. . the pockets are so deep that you can put all sorts of things in them, and it's hard to drop them. Conversely, as a runner, if I run with my smartphone in my pockets, it will dangle, so I try to keep my phone in my back pocket or on my waist belt for trekking.
I see. That's only possible from a runner's point of view.
Makino:. the other thing is that they are just so comfortable to wear. The fabric has been updated to "Net Plus," which is made from recycled fishing nets, and it feels less crisp and a little softer in texture.

Models with special embroidery, not the usual logo, are also available only this season. The light blue "baggy's shorts" have a special Net Plus logo .
As you mentioned, following the previous season's jackets, this season the "baggy shorts" have been replaced with "Net Plus" material.
Makino:When I think about my own choice of things as a runner, it's product first. . so no matter how ethical something is, it's a bit difficult for me to resist using it because of its features, design, etc. But in that respect, I like these new "baggy's shorts" because there is nothing at all that has been modified. Moreover, the fact that the standard "baggy shorts," which are produced in large numbers, have been replaced by materials that are better for the environment, should be a very big achievement, right?

Some of my personal "baggy shorts". . He also owns a number of seasonal colors that are not currently available.
Yes, that's true. What kind of brand image do you have of Patagonia?
Makino:I think it is one of the few brands that are truly timeless . As well as its environmental protection activities, it is a reliable brand and one that you can never go wrong with. Also, when I look around me, I think that Patagonia is a brand that people over 50 years old can wear with a good sense of ease. I like the depth of nostalgia that allows people of all generations and ages to wear Patagonia.
