Skater goes to SUP.
Wearing outdoor wear and in the great outdoors, these two are genuine skaters. They usually live a street life based in Tokyo. Sasamoto works at FTC TOKYO, the flagship store of a skate brand, and Sasaki works as a hairdresser at Guru's Cut & Stand, where many skaters gather. What makes them best friends, however, is not the street scene but the outdoor scene. They first met at Jyoshuya in Shibuya. We will give you a peek into the summer outdoor activities of these two fishermen.

Morning mist rolls in early in the morning at West Lake. In the morning and evening, the temperature drops and it is very comfortable. However, once the sun comes out, the temperature rises rapidly. People can be seen everywhere enjoying water activities such as fishing, canoeing, SUP, and lake bathing from mid-morning.

Today's activity was SUP, which is easier and more comfortable to balance on a lake than on a river with currents or in the ocean with waves. It is said to be a good spot for beginners, but since it was the first time for both of them to SUP, they were a little nervous.

This was a totally unnecessary worry. It was as if they were eager to get into the water. It was like they were talking about "which one of us will be the first to go over the edge and get soaked.

Lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying, Nanga garments remain comfortable even when belted tight.
However, the deepest part of West Lake is 72 meters deep, and unlike seawater, fresh water is not buoyant. Life jackets are indispensable. They enjoy fishing on a regular basis, so they understand the fear of water.

Two young men floating on the surface of the water. Their sense of balance, cultivated through skateboarding, which they often go skating together, is very good, and they paddle with a sense of stability. Their backs show that they are comfortable on the water.

In no time at all, we paddled out to sea and stand up. "I'm afraid I can't see the bottom!" What a rush!

The trick to SUP is to hold on to the board with your toes and paddle through the water in one go. As you glide across the water, you will feel a cool breeze that will cool you down.

Still, the temperature that day was 36 degrees Celsius. They showed no sign of sinking, but they could not stand the heat and dove into the water themselves. The feeling was indescribable. After swimming for a while, they came back to the shore.
