THE FUTURE IS IN THE PAST" is an exhibition being held at the Bunka Gakuen Fashion Museum through November 13. This is an exhibition of Nigo's vintage collection at his alma mater, Bunka Fashion College, and its related facilities. In a greeting posted at the entrance of the museum, Nigo explains, "When I learned that Kenzo Takada, a senior at Bunka Fashion College, was actively interacting with Bunka students, I thought, 'Is there anything I can do to help the young people who will lead the fashion industry in the future? It has been exactly one year since Nigo was appointed artistic director of Kenzo this past September, and reading this article, one can feel Nigo's strong respect for Takada once again. This is of course a part of the new "Kenzo" creations as well, and the outline of this collection was also shaped using the Maison's archives as a motif. For example, the pennant-like design used to decorate the venue and clothes was an adaptation of a flag from the 1980s. The addition of bright colors and patterns unique to "Kenzo" gave the entire collection a glamorous impression. The sailor and workwear designs used throughout the collection are also effective. At first, critical fashion journalists questioned Nigo's skill, but we believe that the contents of this collection successfully dispelled their doubts. . Expectations are high for what kind of story NIGO® will weave for Kenzo in the future.

We do not know the circumstances of the closure, but it is a shame because we once covered it for our magazine, Huynem Unplugged.
