What if someone from the Pokémon generation made T-shirts at the Pokémon Design Lab? 〜The Case of CHiNPAN and Natsuki Fujimoto (Tempalay) Family
POKÉMON FOR ALL

What if someone from the Pokémon generation made a T-shirt at the Pokémon Design Lab?
~For the CHiNPAN and Natsuki Fujimoto (Tempalay) family

More than 25 years have passed since the birth of "Pokemon" and the children of that time have grown up. Yet, the popularity of the series has not waned, and there is no end to the number of adults who have picked up the game and the animated series again and are once again absorbed in the world of Pokemon. The charm of Pokémon is such that it easily brings you back to your childhood, as if it were a lie that you had been away from it for a long time.
The "Pokemon Design Lab" in the "Pokemon Center Shibuya" at Shibuya Parco is a memory device that awakens such childhood memories. This service allows customers to select their favorite Pokémon on a large touch screen and take home a T-shirt custom-designed to their liking on the same day. HOUYHNHNM invited the CHiNPAN and Fujimoto families to the Pokemon Design Lab. Two adults of the Pokémon generation and their daughter KIKI, who is enjoying Pokémon in real time, are now starting ...... verification to see what kind of T-shirts they will create!

Do you want to stick with your favorite or choose a rare Pokémon? ....... It is surprisingly deep!

While waiting for your T-shirt to be finished, we recommend shopping in the store. KIKI is fascinated by the plush toys.

Normally, it takes about 30 to 60 minutes after the design is completed. It looks like everyone's T-shirts are ready to go.

Fujimoto: Look, KIKI! It's the design that KIKI-chan made just now!

CHiNPAN: Shall the three of us try it on right away?

Here is the finished T-shirt!

Top right / CHiNPAN "Even though Meowth is a famous Pokémon, I felt that you don't see it on T-shirts and other merchandise unexpectedly. I am very happy with the design, which looks like it could easily be worn as a printed T-shirt or for everyday wear!"

Fujimoto: "The Lizard, which I was not attracted to in terms of design in the battle screens of "Pokémon Red and Green" (where only a back shot of the Pokémon in your hand is visible), looks great in the current graphics. I was struck by its unexpectedness!

Bottom right / KIKI "KIKI was the most artistic. Her designs, which incorporate many of her favorite things, are just like those of an adult! (CHiNPAN)"

Family snapshot with T-shirt!

At the beginning of the interview, KIKI was shy in her father's arms. In the end, she was happy to see the T-shirt she designed herself. She posed with the "gal piece" that she learned in kindergarten.

How was your experience with custom T-shirt design at the Pokémon Design Lab?

Fujimoto: I was too attached to Lizardon, so it was surprisingly difficult (laughs). In the end, I couldn't make a very aggressive design. ......

CHiNPAN: But it was a lot of fun to be able to choose Pokémon that you wouldn't be able to choose with ready-made printed T-shirts, wasn't it? You can choose a Pokémon that you really like, or, as in this case, a Pokémon that is not widely available. When you think about it, it is surprisingly deep! (Laughs)

It was interesting to see both the perspective of an adult who has been playing with Pokemon for a long time and that of a child who has just started playing with it.

CHiNPAN: It's nice to be able to make Pokemon in a lively workshop format like this. Even KIKI, who doesn't know that many Pokemon, seemed to have a lot of fun.

Fujimoto: It would be nice to be able to pick up the T-shirts we made on the spot. ...... Hmmm...maybe a simple Lizardon design like "Pokémon + Frame" would have been nice, too? (LOL).

CHiNPAN: Then, let's come back to make it again with the three of us!

The completed T-shirts will be delivered with a special drawstring. It is convenient to use as a small container and will also make a great gift.
