No.5 Ryosuke Nozaki / Buyer, BEAMS

PROFILE
Born in Tokyo in 1991. He joined BEAMS in 2014. After working as a sales representative at three stores in Tokyo, he became a buyer of men's casual wear at BEAMS in 2021. He has been influenced by music since he was young, especially East Coast hip-hop of the 1990s, and his daily fashion is often coordinated in a way that reminds him of that era.

Q1: What is the point of today's coordination?
Nozaki: The color scheme of "Top Ten" is orange and blue, so I picked up the colors with a rough shirt and washed denim. I usually coordinate colors together to create a sense of overall unity. My love of relaxed silhouettes is influenced by early 90's East Coast hip-hop, and that style is at the core of my current style.

Q2. What is the appeal of vintage clothing?
Nozaki: When choosing vintage clothing, I am the type of person who values intuition rather than age or brand. I may find a bargain at a store I happen to visit, or get a piece of clothing I have always wanted at a price I never thought I would pay. I think the charm of vintage clothing is that you can feel the thrill of such chance encounters. It is also a great way to learn about the roots of current clothing. When buying or making special orders, I study more deeply so as not to forget to respect the originals.
Q3. How do you feel about wearing this work?
Nozaki: The orange and blue color scheme is lovely. The body is not a crisp white, but rather a raw-reddish color, which gives the shoes a nostalgic feel. Also, many people are particular about how they tie their shoelaces, but I prefer to tie them loosely in a loop rather than tightening them. Sneaker culture buffs often point this out to me, but it's simply easier to untie in one go.... I am the type of person who values functionality (laughs).

Q4. How did you find this work with old clothes?
Nozaki: Footwear can tell a lot about culture and style, but the "Top Ten" is one of Bash's most neutral and easy to wear without making too strong a statement. It expresses a retro mood without interfering with your coordination. Because of its chunky silhouette, I pulled out a pair of wide denims I used to wear a lot in my early 20s and tried them on after a long time. This level of wideness goes well with the "Top Ten.
