The story of a man who leaves his seaside town and becomes a distiller at the foot of the mountains.

Around this year, I think it is safe to say that Japan is also in the first year of the craft gin boom. While the craft gin boom has already begun to take off around the world, in recent years small distilleries have begun to open in Japan as well. One such distillery, Yamatoumi Farm & Distillery, opened this winter on the shores of Lake Nojiri in northern Nagano Prefecture. Why did Satoru Segi, who was born and raised in Kamakura, the city of the sea, and has been running a delicatessen bar, become a distiller at the foot of a mountain?

Beautiful distiller. Cool!

The distillation room, the heart of "Yamatoumi farm & distill". The form and shine of the copper distillation machine is very exciting! We had a hard time deciding on a distillation machine, but we are glad we went with the copper one. I was really worried about the distiller, but I'm glad we went with copper, because it looks cool (laughs). . I also feel the fascination of the mysterious power of copper as a material. It removes the impurities and smells of the ingredients. This distillation room is equipped with a mirror ball, so it becomes a beautiful space of another world at night.
