This is the story of a man named Ryu Nakamura, who shaped the magic number.

Ryu Nakamura, professional surfer and director of the apparel brand "Magic Number," is celebrating his 15th anniversary this year. In the world of apparel, where it is said to be difficult to continue a business for even five years, how did he ride the waves of the times, grow his brand, and reach where he is today? We will look at his past and present, his thoughts on "Magic Number" and its outline.

Nakamura Ryu's blood is in the blood of manufacturing.

On the following day, we visited the exhibition of "Magic Number," which has been greatly revamped on the occasion of its 15th anniversary.

What was different from the past was that the brand's tagline was changed to "SEE YOU IN THE WATER" as mentioned above, and the logo, which is the soul of the brand, was also changed. The design was created by NUTS ART WORKS, who started his career as a sign painter in 1996 and has created many store signs and graphics.

In addition to the logo, we have also created an A to Z font, which will become the face of "Magic Number" in the future.

An original lookbook was also produced for this occasion. The beginning of the book, which was thoroughly bound and bound in Ryu's own words, reads as follows.

"It's hard to believe that 15 years have already passed since my first Exhibition. I would like to express my gratitude for the fact that I have been able to face the things I wanted to do at that time and the things I wanted to do today. I am grateful for all the love, help, and encouragement I have received. I have come to believe that all the frustrations and mistakes I have made have been the essence of success. Thank you with all my heart to everyone involved.

. And MAGIC NUMBER cannot do anything on its own. The team of planning, design, production, sales, PR, and riders are all MAGIC NUMBER, and always have been and always will be.

The book, which is filled with Ryu's thoughts and ideas, introduces the people who have been involved with the brand in addition to describing the items. They are all unadorned and natural, people who resonate with Ryu's thoughts and ideas. They all have really nice faces. On the cover of the book are the kids who are the future. For more details, please visit the store.

The "Magic Number" we saw at the exhibition looked like a surf brand, a street brand, and had a hint of athleticism. Lastly, we asked Ryu about the outline of "Magic Number" as he envisions it and its future.

I make surf trunks because my life revolves around surfing, but I don't consider myself a surf brand. I started with the feeling of 'I want to do things freely,' so I have made what I wanted to make at the time without compromise, regardless of genre, and I don't think that will change in the future. Even now, we have our work displayed in a major boutique, and we also have our work displayed in a small local surf store. I think that feeling is very typical of our company.

From now on, "Magic Number" will continue to make things with Ryu's blood in their veins, and will keep the current density and reach the 20-year milestone.
