Enjoy fresh Shizuoka specialties.
When you come to Shizuoka, you want to taste the best of the sea. That is why we headed for "Warakubou Shoan" (和楽房 尚庵). The restaurant is located in Tago no Ura, which is known as the setting of a poem in "Manyoshu" (The Anthology of Myriad Leaves), and offers fresh seafood from Suruga Bay while enjoying a view of Mt. The most famous of all is the shirasu (baby sardines). Having heard rumors that the shirasu is the best in Japan, the two of us immediately ordered the shirasu donburi. Unable to resist, we also ordered a bowl of salmon roe and salmon roe.

The lunch-only "Tagonoura" (¥1,210) includes a bowl of shirasu rice, a bowl of rice, an onsen tamago (hot spring egg), dessert, and after-meal coffee. For the greedy, we recommend ordering an additional child-sized bowl of rice with salmon roe (¥990).

TAKA: This is the first time I had shirasu from Tago no Ura. It seems to be a little bigger this time of year, and it tastes really good!
SHUTO: It's big, so the texture is prefect! The soy sauce is unique and not too thick, just right. The salmon roe bowl is also great. It filled my heart.
