I want to collaborate with as many people as possible without being limited.
Let's return to the subject matter you deal with. While I deal with journalistic photography such as "Magnum Photos" and make zines with photographers who express themselves deeply, such as Osamu Kanemura, I also publish interviews with "Diaspora Skateboards" on the web. Skateboards" on the web. Are you conscious of the breadth of your work?
Mēdeia 1.0:I think it's a good idea. I don't think it's right for this project to have a fixed taste. When we are fulfilling the role of a newsstand or kiosk, it is not good to put restrictions on things other than the production of apparel and zines. So, basically, we want to be open about the people involved and the places where we hold events.
By doing so, we can handle a wide range of subjects and reach a wider audience.
Mēdeia 1.0:Yes, the 90's was a treasure trove of culture, and I learned a lot from my seniors and the older generation. When I went to the park, I would see older skaters gathered together, and in their backpacks were magazines, zines, and CDs. Looking at them, I learned many things from them. I want Mēdeia 1.0 to be like that. In order for that to happen, I hope to collaborate with many people without being limited.
What kind of movements are you going to make from now on?
Mēdeia 1.0:We will continue to release apparel through "Mēdeia 1.0" as in the past, and continue publishing zines through "Mēdeia 2.0". We would also like to connect with artists in new ways, such as through new hardcover photo collections.
I think we are still in the phase of getting people to know us. We have not yet reached the point where people can judge whether it is good or bad. Therefore, I think our challenge is to raise the awareness of "Mēdeia 1.0" even more. We will be working to achieve this.
It would be great if we could have pop-ups in many places and this fair at the "Tsutaya" bookstore.
Mēdeia 1.0:Yes, that's right. (*at the time of the interview) We are planning to do this not only at the existing "Ginza Tsutaya Tsutaya," of course, but we are also planning to do some other stores. There is a Serbian photographer named Boogie, who has lived in New York for a long time and has been taking pictures of the ghetto area called Bushwick. We are planning to publish a zine of his work in "Mēdeia 2.0," and we are thinking of various contents to go along with it. We are also planning to do pop-ups at various stores next spring, so we would be very happy if you are interested.

The apparel, which incorporates the philosophy of "Mēdeia1.0," will be available at pop-ups and fairs scheduled to be held in various locations, as well as online, and will also be available at Ginza Tsutaya throughout 2023. Long sleeve T-shirt: ¥8,800 each, T-shirt: ¥7,480 each, Cap: ¥5,500 each, Tote bag: ¥5,500 each.
