A cycle created by both agriculture and the acting business.

-What were you most tired of at the time, Mr. Kobayashi?

Kobayashi:It wasn't a clear-cut reason, but in one's twenties, one tends to compare oneself with others, and there are a lot of worries. As I continued my acting career from my school days, I had worries about my career and felt that I was the only one left behind.

-But when you were the heroine in "The Demon King," for example, you must have thought, "Now I can do it, too! You must have felt that you had a good response.

Kobayashi:I was actually 18 years old when I started my teenage years, attending a performing arts school, and I had no memories of high school life in particular, and I was mainly focused on work. Then I entered my 20s and thought, "I'm going to do it! but for some reason, work didn't go well. It was a severe period for me. I was in a state of limbo as a member of society.

-is it like a loss of identity?

Kobayashi:I think it was more than hmmm, I think it was simply anxiety. I want to do my best, but I don't know what to do my best for. As an actor, you get roles by fate, luck, and chance. Of course, I do the best I can in the field, but it's not something that comes with a concrete number or ranking.

-Is there anything from the farming business that can be given back to the acting business?

Kobayashi:Agriculture and acting have something in common in that specialists come together to play their respective roles in the creation of a product. I realized as I was balancing both that I am suited to an environment where even if there is something I cannot do, someone is there to follow up on it. When I was working only as an actor, I had to study a lot before going into the field and see how well I could do! Looking back on it now, I was putting too much effort into it... "I don't want any NG! I was like, "I don't want any NG! But if you think about it, we are a team, so it is not a competition, but a "cooperation" to create together. Since I started farming, I have been able to relax in a good way and ask for help and advice from others. At work, I am constantly apologizing and saying, "I can't do it, I'm sorry" (laughs). (laugh) I accept my inadequacies and ask for help when I don't understand something... I feel again that I like teamwork.

-When you were a single actor, were you a perfectionist?

Kobayashi:Yes, I am. When I can't do something, I am the type of person who wants to push until I can do it. If I go to Korea and fail because of the language barrier, I will learn Korean in a short period of time and send a video to an office over there to get a commercial contract. If he fails an audition for a director's film, he will definitely try again and get the next one. He was the type of person who was passionate about that kind of thing.

-In 2019, he also participated in the film project "Not Alone" in Toyosato-cho, Miyagi Prefecture, which focuses on post-disaster isolation and lonely deaths.

Kobayashi:I wondered if there was anything I could do to help. That film was made to support the recovery from the disaster, and many people from the community participated in it. The vehicle department is made up of local grandfathers, and the place where the staff eats dinner is a community center. Where relationships had been torn apart by the earthquake, we decided to make a film together to liven things up. The film won an award in Germany and was invited to film festivals in LA and Russia. I was pushed to go, so I took the Trans-Siberian Railroad and walked on the red carpet. I was pushed by the people involved to go, so I took the Trans-Siberian Railway and walked on the red carpet. Including those memories, this was an irreplaceable film.

-You mentioned earlier that you like teamwork. Can you think of any common characteristics of people you would like to work with?

Kobayashi:Well, I think there are a lot of people who take things seriously with love. (Like Mr. Nakagaki (Aigle's marketing manager), many of Aigle's staff and customers also love the brand itself, as well as the society and agriculture that they see through Aigle. As far as Agrico is concerned, I like the feeling that all the staff members are looking in the same direction.
