Once a year, Mountain Research and friends gather in the mountains.

Last but not least, we would like to present you with a snapshot of the gorgeous people who participated in the Small Market. Please take a look at them all at once, including their relationship with Mr. Kobayashi and their history.

Okabe-san, who moved his base to his hometown in Iwate Prefecture, is participating in A.M.C. for the first time. He said, "I came to the first A.M.C. to take a peek. I came to the first A.M.C. and saw that everyone I was close to was participating, but I wasn't invited (laughs).

Okabe-san, who now lives in the mountains, attributes his lifestyle to Kobayashi-san's influence.

I still remember clearly that I met Mr. Kova in 2006, and he taught me a lot of things. I know a lot of people at A.M.C., and my son, who wants to become a hair stylist, got clippers, and everyone was really nice to me. It's nice to feel like we're all connected in this way forever.

. Next is Mr. Homma, who has continued to participate since the first meeting. Mr. Homma's encounter with Mr. Kobayashi is quite old . . He told us about those days, saying, "It's vague.

What kind of person is Mr. Kobayashi to you?

I'm like a senior who is a shopping maniac (laughs). Sometimes I think I buy too much stuff, but when I think of Mr. Kobayashi, I still think it's okay for me to buy things.

Finally, do you feel that the event itself has changed compared to the first one?

. I don't know, but I don't know. We are just invited, so it's very easy for us. (Laughs.) I get the impression that we have a really good time every time, and that hasn't changed at all.

Like Mr. Kobayashi, Ms. Kai is also a resident of Nakameguro, Tokyo. You have been participating since the first meeting, but do you feel anything has changed since the first meeting?

This time, there was Okabe (Fumihiko), who is close to Mr. Kobayashi, and Ryo (Ryo), who is a photographer. The number of my friends is increasing every time I do this. It's more like the usual group of people are starting to gather.

Mr. Kobayashi and I hit it off over our love of Phish. Since then, our relationship has spanned more than 20 years.

Incidentally, "Bamboo Shoot" is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, and is planning to hold a festival when it reaches its 30th anniversary. Please look forward to that as well.

This is the second time Mr. Akutagawa has participated in the event since last year. There are a lot of people I haven't seen in a while, and that's part of the fun.

He says he has been working with Mr. Kobayashi for 10 years .

That's when I started shifting my focus to outdoor work, and since then, we've been working closely together. I often go there to do interviews. I have a lot of respect for him, and I'm always learning from him.

Mr. Tsukahara is also a regular attendee, and this is his third time participating. He said, "In a good way, I like that it hasn't changed. It's always been loose, and we don't have to work so hard to sell our products. I don't have to work so hard to sell my products. I always enjoy it.

He met Mr. Kobayashi eight years ago through a mutual acquaintance.

We happen to like many things in common, and I have learned a lot from him in the area of craftsmanship. For me, he is like an erudite senior.

Kogure commented, "It has a looseness to it that you don't find at other events, and it's a lot of fun. This is the second time he has participated in this event.

I was asked to make the umbrella part of the whitening kit for the first "Goal Zero," and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with them every year since then.

Mr. Kobayashi and I have known each other since three years ago when Rockfield Equipment was launched.

I was very grateful to be asked to join the company after about one year from the launch of the brand. So, about a year after we launched the brand, I was approached by Mr. Kobayashi, and I was very grateful. He had a soft-spoken manner. I was taken by him the first time I met him (laughs). I look forward to working with you again next year.

This is the first time Mr. Nabé has participated in this event. Mr. Nabé has also been greatly influenced by Mr. Kobayashi.

I was a one-sided fan of theirs at the time, so I asked if we could meet, and they agreed to meet with me. We have known each other since then. How should I put it, Mr. Kobayashi, master? (Laughs)"

The market featured many items from the very popular "VINCENT SHOELACE" and "POLAR FISHING WEAR" shoe laces. How was the event itself?

. honestly, I didn't care either way whether it sold or not, I was just happy to be able to attend. . and all the participants seemed to really enjoy themselves, so it was a good event. I would be happy to participate again."

Timber Crew, located in Chofu City, Tokyo, is a building materials shop that has worked on the floors, walls, interior design, and many other areas of Suigen no Mori Camp Land. This is the second time they have participated in this event.

I enjoyed being able to interact with people I wouldn't normally meet, and the sense of togetherness that comes from being in nature," said Koyama.

Incidentally, the "Water Source Forest" is currently selling barbecue sticks created by the "Timber Crew". They are very easy to grill marshmallows and sausages , and the design is excellent. Be sure to check them out when you visit.

Mr. Ito, who is of the same generation as Mr. Kobayashi, participated for the second time. I think it's a really good event," he said. Mr. Kobayashi and the people at Mountain Research have a great atmosphere. . So it doesn't really matter whether they sell well or not. The people who have stalls also have fun, and that's what's great about it.

Being of the same generation, the relationship is almost 30 years old.

When I was at General Research, I helped him a little bit with his work. Since we have known each other for such a long time, Mr. Kobayashi is like an older brother or a mentor to me.

Mr. Yackman, who performed live at the first A.M.C., was also a regular attendee. He and Mr. Kobayashi are old acquaintances.

. it's been almost 30 years, I think. . We met for the first time in the early 90s. We were passing each other at the time, but sometime during the cherry blossom viewing season, Mr. Kobayashi was having a drink outside, and I happened to pass by and he said to me, 'Have a drink, Yak, too. I think we became friends from there.

What kind of person is Mr. Kobayashi to you?

You are digging maniacally for what you want to do, and you are attacking the very edge of what you want to do, right?　There are very few people today who can go that far. Also, since we are both from the Edo period, I feel comfortable with his fast pace and his way of speaking, and I feel a sense of familiarity with him (laughs).

Next year's schedule has not yet been announced, but if all goes as usual, the next event will be held on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, 2024 .
