UNLIRICE Volume.00 Domains
First issue of the magazine Henri Rice

Fashion, art, photography, music, and other aspects of Asian culture are on the rise. The first issue of "UNLIRICE" magazine, 464 pages and 1.6 kg in weight, delves into the "B-side" of Asian culture through visuals and interviews, and conveys the enthusiasm of its creators.¥4,950(Henri Rice)

To: Owner of a dumpling shop

Henri Rice" is a magazine focusing on Asian creativity (music, fashion, photography, literature, art, etc.). My favorite gyoza restaurant, where I have been a customer since I was a student. He knocks on the door of Gyoza-ya when he feels stuck in his writing or when he wants to talk about his current situation without any punchline. He has created a space not only for gyoza-ya but also for Asian cuisine, craft beer, sauna, camping, and music events. He wraps gyoza in various places in Japan and even goes to Taiwan just to eat gyoza. I chose this site in the hope that it would be a reference for his love of Asian culture. I chose this for his reference because he loves Asian culture. He has a hard time finding the right time, so I would like to give him a reason to give me this gift and have him listen to what I have to say.

To: A best friend who wants to die

I thought a star full of stars would be a good gift for my girlfriend who has strong feelings of resignation about life. She has been my best friend since college. She has a strong sense of resignation toward life, and is somewhat fragile and seems to disappear if I take my eyes off of her. She only looks up when we go for a walk at night. Each time she murmurs that she loves the stars. I want to see this planetarium together, talk about our constellations, and tease her about the long-distance relationship between Orihime and Hikoboshi. I hope that my days will be enriched a little by giving her a star that she loves so much that she always wants to look up when she is always looking down.

Aladdin × BEAMS JAPAN
Heater by Aladdin x BEAMS Japan

Aladdin's famous "Blue Flame" heater is one of the most popular winter features. This season, a special order from "BEAMS JAPAN" has been made for a black-and-white color. The color, which was not previously seen in this product, blends well with the mature form of the heater.¥66,000(beams 03-3470-9393)

To: Myself

I live in a 50 year old apartment that looks like a warehouse. Before the second winter since I moved to Tokyo, I thought I would get a heater. My friends often come to this house, but in the winter, their footsteps stop at a snail's pace. The room temperature is so cold that I think it is colder than the outside temperature, and when I wake up in the morning, my face feels frozen. This winter, I wanted to invite my favorite friends over and enjoy spending time with them and staying warm, so I decided to use a heater. I've always loved the retro look of Aladdin heaters and had hoped to someday have one. I am a Chiawesen man who lives within his means and enjoys luxury, but I want to reward myself for all my hard work this year. I hope this winter will be a good one for writing and reading.

Question

Q: What do you keep in mind when choosing a gift?

I choose things that I would not buy for myself but would be happy to receive. When I was shopping, I thought, "Oh! It's cute! I like it! I want to give something that I can put in the corner of my mind and think, "But not right now..." I want to give something that will make me happy.

Q: What are your successes or failures in gift selection?

The other day was my mentor's 60th birthday. He is also a writer, and his handwriting is very beautiful. I wondered what would be a good gift for his 60th birthday, but I decided on a Sailor fountain pen. I felt it was a bit of a gamble to give him a fountain pen, since he is so particular about his handwriting. But in fact, he is very happy with it and uses it every day. He told me with a rare smile, "This is the first time I have received such a sophisticated gift from a boy who is older than my daughter. I am very happy to have been able to give my master something that can be integrated into a part of his life.

Question

Q: What do you keep in mind when choosing a gift?

I decide on a half line between what the recipient likes and what I also like. When I receive a gift, I am happy if there is an explanation of the gift, such as "this is...," so I tend to look for items within the range of my own tastes. I also tend to choose items that have memories of the two of us with that person.

LE LABO
Le Labo Candles

From Le Labo, which uses only carefully selected raw materials and is popular for its delicate yet powerful fragrance, comes a candle in a handmade concrete vessel. The maximum burning time is approximately 82 hours.¥74,800(Le Labo)

To: Mother & Sister

I longed to have a large candle with a container made of concrete. As my sense of smell is one of the most important senses in my daily life, a space with a good fragrance is therapeutic for me. It takes courage to spend 80,000 yen for a candle by myself, and the size of the candle makes me too happy to receive it as a gift because I want to put it in my space as an object of art. But it is too expensive for me to buy it myself. I would like to have it in a nice house....

Question

Q: What do you keep in mind when choosing a gift?

The basic premise is that the act of gift selection is either "I want to make a NEW suggestion or recommendation to the other person" OR "I want to make the other person sincerely happy with something they can get into and use right away", so I think it is an event where thoughtfulness appears, including relationship, distance and timing. I think that is the same as in everyday communication. So, I enjoy myself and think about the recipient while choosing the gift, simulating in my mind the look of joy on the recipient's face when he or she receives it. It depends on the relationship with the recipient and the timing, but basically I think, "It's a little expensive for me to buy it myself. Is it too much of a reward? I might not go out of my way to buy it, but I've been thinking about it for a long time. is the standard. In conclusion, I try to keep in mind items that are "Why do you understand me so well? (I try to make items that make you say, "Why do you understand me so well?

Q: What are your successes or failures in gift selection?

When I gave him a trip to Kyoto as a gift, he was unable to return to Tokyo due to a once-in-a-decade snowstorm that stopped all transportation (laugh). (Laughs) We even included the cost of the extra night in the gift. I also tried to buy a pair of shoes as a gift, but I couldn't find the recipient's size...but I really wanted to buy them on the same day so I gave them a set of insoles, even though they were a little big (laughs). All's well that ends well!

When I want to celebrate a new beginning, such as the opening of a new store or the farewell of a loved one, I often send flowers. Sometimes I ask for a bouquet of only a few flowers, but in such cases, what is important to me is a florist I can trust. I ask either my friend Chiemi Wakai at "duft" (Umegaoka) or Hitoshi Kouchi at "VOICE" (Jingumae). A few years ago, when I rushed to "duft" when I heard that a bookstore clerk I knew was retiring, she carefully listened to what the recipient would like and what my relationship was with him or her, and wrapped a casual bouquet of several flowers according to his or her image. I will never forget the look of delight on the recipient's face as she said, "I have never received a bouquet like this. I have seen the person many times since then, and I am so happy to know that I have left such a strong impression on him or her that he or she repeatedly thanks me for the gift every time I see him or her. This episode made me realize how important it is for me to have a florist who chooses flowers with the recipient in mind.

Question

Q: What do you keep in mind when choosing a gift?

I want to give something that the recipient will definitely enjoy. I try to choose something that I like and that I think they will use in the future, rather than something that would be a burden to receive or something that seems like a joke.

Q: What are your successes or failures in gift selection?

I thought I would give him a handkerchief, but I was surprised to find that he did not carry a handkerchief with him. I was shocked to find out that he does not carry a handkerchief with him. I realized that each person has a different idea of what is normal.

Question

Q: What do you keep in mind when choosing a gift?

I always try to input even trivial episodes such as "I want to buy this or that recently," into our conversations. Since I became aware of this, when the time came to actually give a gift, it became easier for me to choose the right gift. I'm doubly pleased with the gift I received! (Laughs)

Q: What are your successes or failures in gift selection?

I was in a high-spirited mood after we started dating at the end of fall, and it was the day before Christmas in no time! During a break from work, I ran to a crowded store to buy a pair of shoes that I had planned to give him, but they were out of stock.... With the help of my sister, I went to a store that had them in stock and was able to secure them. He picked me up at home that night and I gave them to him with a cool look on my face. He immediately wore them on our date the next day, but don't tell anyone that I was actually sweating profusely in the back (laughs).
