'As much furniture as you like in colors that feel warm and soothing.'

Shun lives in a condominium in a residential area about a 10-minute walk from the nearest station. The living room, which fulfills his wish to live in a spacious house, is bathed in brilliant sunlight, and even in December, it does not require heating during the daytime. Looking at the favorite interior decorations, one can easily see shun's hobbies and tastes. The room, which is well organized and filled with his favorites, is a perfect blend of American culture centered in New York and Japanese harmony.

The Scandu Table, designed by Eric Pfeiffer in 2005, is placed in the center of the living room. Sitting on the sofa and putting your feet up here is the best time to spend in a daze.
The room looks nice and bright even without the lights on. The first thing I noticed was the large sofa. It's big enough to lie down on.
SHUN:I bought this sofa when I moved into this room about a year ago, and I wanted to put a sofa in a color that would have an impact. The impression of a room is greatly changed by a sofa, isn't it? I think black or brown ones are safe, but I chose this one because I wanted to make the whole room brighter and improve the house time.
It's more of a green with a hint of yellow. It has an austere quality. Is it a new product of some brand?
SHUN:No, this is vintage. It's a classic, but I like mid-century furniture and this is from that era. It's comfortable and I like the design. I spend most of my time at home on this sofa.
Is the LL BEAN rug on the sofa vintage?
SHUN:This is a rug whose design is based on the cover of a catalog that the brand published in 1933, probably in the 1980s. I don't think I have to mention [L.L. Bean], because it is an indispensable brand.
The table is also a good size and stylishly designed.
SHUN:I originally wanted to have a low table in my room. When I was a child, my parents had a low table that served as a kotatsu as well as a dining table, and I loved spending time there. I thought that if I were to use it now, I would want something with a slightly quirky design, so I chose the "Scandu Table. I really like the magazine rack.

Looking from the sofa to the next room, you can see American interior and clothing. Yokohama BayStars uniforms are also on display, which shows Shun's taste.
SHUN:This section of the house is divided in my mind as "New York". This laundry cart is actually used over there, and I hang my recently purchased items and clothes I want to wear on it. Together with the chair next to it, I got it from Pacific Furniture Service, which is well-known for its American interior design. Next to it is the 90th anniversary model of the classic "Stool 60" by "artek. I really like the beautiful grain of the wood.
The racks around the TV have a very Japanese feel to them. The furniture has an old-fashioned quality. Is this a selection?
SHUN:I consciously chose rattan for the interior of this area. This is another piece of furniture that looks like it was in my grandparents' house when I was a child, and it has a homelike air. I like the way it makes the room feel warm. I also want to welcome the "Chesca Chair" into my room someday, which is why I have rattan pieces in my collection.

On the warm rattan furniture are various items, from a Slam Dunk manga left by a friend to a vase of flowers and an incense holder. The way the items are organized, even though they are of different genres, is typical of Shun.

I see! So it is also a preparation for the "Chesca Chair. I also noticed the rather large mirror in the living room.
SHUN:This is from IKEA. I was looking for a large mirror anyway, and this is the one I found. I checked on social networking sites and found that most of the large mirrors on the market were like this one. I checked on social networking sites and found that most of the large mirrors were this one. I prefer a large mirror for checking my outfits and whatever I do.
I see that you have a lot of plants in your house. Do you like green?
SHUN:I grew up in an environment with a lot of nature, so I feel at home when I see plants. I also like Inokashira Park. The purpose of improving the environment in my home is to create a relaxing time, so I have a lot of plants like this. I am not as good as the professionals who love plants, but I want to enjoy growing plants in my own way.
What are your particular preferences when it comes to what to put in a room?
SHUN:It's a sense of collecting things that I really like, without arranging them in any particular genre. So there are areas where American furniture is gathered together, while other areas have a sense of Japanese nostalgia with rattan racks, and mid-century interiors are also placed.
I also have a single-flower vase that I found on the street with a sign that says, "Please feel free to take it." I would like to create a room with things that I feel are necessary, even if they have no value to someone else. I would also like to choose things with calming colors. I think it is important whether or not the presence of the item relaxes me.

1_ONLY NY's DSNY official collaboration trash can

$148 (Only NY)
This is a collaboration dust box between "Only New York" and "DSNY," which is not yet available in Japan. It's an official, home-sized version of a trash can from New York, and as a New York lover myself, I definitely want one of these!"
2_Knoll's Chesca chair

¥148,500 (Nor Japan)
I've been thinking about getting one for a long time now. I'd like to get a vintage one the same age as mine, but the prices are going up and up, so I'm wondering if I should get a new one. ......"

This selection is also unique to Mr. shun, whose background is in New York culture. It is a wonder that American colored cones look so stylish. I think it would be fun to have one in the house," he says with a laugh.
