I like just the right design quality, not overdone.

Your taste in clothes has attracted attention from various media.
Kato:That was five or six years ago. At that time, a collaboration model between "Camper" and "Kikocostadinov" was on sale, and I fell in love with it, so I bought it.
What do you like about the shoes?
Kato:The upper is made of different materials, leather and mesh, and they just look super cute. I've been wearing them ever since I bought them, and I have a lot of shoes, but I wear them the most, for sure.

I would like to know what else is attractive about "Camper".
Kato:Depending on the model, I like designs where it is hard to tell whether they are regular shoes or leather shoes.
I don't think I would wear them every day even if the design is good, but are they comfortable to wear?
Kato:They are already very nice. All of [Camper]'s shoes are very comfortable. I can say that they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.
When you say it like that, it has a different persuasive power.
Kato:I am flattered, and I agree.

What do you like about the ones you are wearing now?
Kato:It's roundness. I think that roundness is the most important aspect of [Camper's] design.
The white quilt is also a distinctive feature.
Kato:They are interesting from a design standpoint as well. I like ragged shoes because they are romantic, but since I am living in the present, I think that things that are made now and that I find interesting are more suitable for me.
However, I wouldn't have chosen it if it were overdone, but "Camper" has a very good balance between the two.

Do your selection criteria apply to clothing as well?
Kato:Yes, I think so. I think I like designs that don't seem to exist. I am not very good at wearing only high-end brands or only second-hand clothes, so I think I naturally find a balance between the two.
Do you have a sense of coordination, like, "The whole outfit is casual, so I need to tighten it up with shoes"?
Kato:I might be thinking about it. It would be too obvious if it were something like a suit and sneakers, though. I like to be stylish enough to be recognizable when you look closely, rather than stylish at a quick glance.
In that sense, today's shoes are not either/or and can swing either way, so they are quite easy to use.
By the way, the white quilt is also removable.
Kato:Yes, but I don't think I will remove it. This white quilt is what makes Camper unique, and it is the complete product.
Mr. Kato's favorite camper

This is the first collaboration item between "Camper" and "Kiko Kostadinov" that Ms. Kato has purchased. Of all the shoes he owns, he wears them by far the most often. The classic mountain-climbing shoe look and distinctive sole make these shoes a perfect match for any outfit.
