Yuta Kaji's Movie Fortune Telling -Tsugumi's Case

Stylist Mr. Kaji is a movie buff, a talker, and a stylist who likes to recommend things to others. The "movie fortune-telling" event, which was born out of an event, is exactly what it sounds like: Mr. Kaji becomes a fortune-teller, listening to customers' problems and prescribing movies for them.
The cherry blossoms in Tokyo have fallen in an instant, but the fleeting feeling of transience is short-lived, as the temperature has warmed up and it is a perfect day for fortune-telling. This time, we welcome model and actor Tsugumi as our guest, and Ms. Kaji will tell your fortune while asking you about your favorite works and writers. The works and writers we like reveal a lot about a person's personality, but it is even more interesting when we can see the background of that person!

Seeds of Motivation.

Kaji: Tsugumi used to be on the side of the audience, but recently started acting, how is it to be on the acting side? Is it difficult?

Tsugumi: . It's difficult as a matter of course, but it's fun. It's harder than modeling because there is a lot of prep work, but as someone who has been saved a lot by movies and TV dramas, I get really excited on set.

Kaji: . There are times when I think I was saved, too, when I look back. It used to be said that for men, the age of 30 is like that of a man, and you think about what you want to be at that time. In my case, clothes are one of those things. Clothes gave me power, so I want to give it back with clothes. That is the foundation of what I do. It means that I have a seed of motivation. What was your first acting job?

Tsugumi: A member of BiSH, Ayuni D., has a solo band project called "PEDRO" and I was offered to do a music video for it. I had always really liked BiSH and wanted to be in the music video. That was the first time.

Kaji: . You go into the field without any experience, right? . It's not like you have any practice. It's your first time on the set.

Tsugumi: Yes, the music video was quite special. It was a music video from the girlfriend's point of view, and I was on her side. The director is a documentary filmmaker, but he knew that I had no acting experience, so he shot it as if we were friends, spending our summer vacation together, which was fun. I was nervous, but she made me feel at ease.

Kaji: So, it's like a lucky first entrance?

Tsugumi: Lucky.

Kaji: It's not beginner's luck, but I had a good experience there, so what should I do next?

Tsugumi: If I had been eaten there, I probably would have been upset, because I hate to lose.

Kaji: . that the world is becoming a more enjoyable place with more choices. It seems like something I'd be suited for, doesn't it? Because it's even in the name of the movie. There aren't many people like that. That's why "Tsugumi 2" is a good choice. In that sense, I was surprised to hear that it has already been made into a movie (laughs). The more I talk to her, the more I realize that she is a model, but I also think that she has a lot of other charms, depending on how she is brought out. I think it would be a shame to leave her only as a model. By the way, what kind of books do you read?

Tsugumi: I like mystery, suspense, and horror books . . and essays. Risa Wataya is the only exception. I read horror to death and...

Kaji: So it's like seeing it in a movie and reading the book too.

Tsugumi: Horror is scarier in books.

Kaji: Why?

Tsugumi: . because I can picture it in my mind. . so I find it in my daily life.

Kaji: Who would you recommend?

Tsugumi: I have already recommended him to everyone, but there is a writer named Shinzo Mitsuda, and I love him. I think that Mr. Mitsuda is the scariest horror novelist on earth, and he is the author of many "ghost stories".

Kaji: A House Ghost Story.

Tsugumi: Some of the stories are from quite a long time ago, maybe when there were samurai, and some are from the early Showa period.

Kaji: It doesn't matter what time of year it is. Let me tell you something, you see, I'm a scaredy-cat. I don't watch a lot of horror movies.

Tsugumi: Then I'll tell you a fortune-telling tale on the contrary (laughs). There is a novel called "Transcription of a Ghost Story," a contemporary ghost story written by Mr. Mitsuda, and it contains several omnibus stories, and it is the scariest book I have ever read in my life. I can't read it at home, and I can only read it on the bus at the site.

Kaji: ...... We had a pleasant talk for a while, and yes, I'm going to announce the results of the fortune-telling.

Tsugumi: Please do so!

Kaji: After talking with him today, I found out that Tsugumi enjoys "The Life of Matsuko, the Hater" and "Jigoku de naze wa yaku" (Why is it Bad in Hell?), as well as other heavy works. I think he is a person who can use such things as fertilizer and has the power to turn problems and obstacles into positives. What would you recommend to Tsugumi?

Tsugumi: Yes yes yes. I've heard of it , though I've never seen it.

Kaji: It is based on a novel by a writer named Fumiko Hayashi. Her entire life is made into a movie, and she is a very interesting person. She went to Paris. He went to Paris. He had a heavy life, but he overcame it and made a movie about his life, which is amazing. Even though the times are different, I feel that Tsugumi has something in common with Fumiko Hayashi, and I think that eventually there will be something in her way of life that I will be able to feel. I think that eventually there will be something in her way of life that I will feel. I would like to recommend that you watch it now, because you may not watch it voluntarily.

Tsugumi: I'm grateful. It's fucked up.

Kaji: It stars Hideko Takamine, Japan's top actress. I wonder how the film will be conveyed to people of different generations. I think she might be a good fit. It's perfect. Thank you very much.

Tsugumi: Thank you very much! I had a great time .

Movies recommended by Mr. Kaji

The Wandering (1962)

Director: Mikio Naruse
Cast: Takamine Hideko , Tanaka Kinuyo , Takarada Akira

Fumiko Hayashi grew up traveling from place to place with her mother Ki, a peddler. In the early Showa period (1926-1989), Fumiko began living in a boarding house in Tokyo, and while working as a factory worker and waitress at a café, she began to write poetry and joined a coterie magazine. After living with and breaking up with Haruhiko Date, a playwright and poet, Fumiko married writer Mitsugu Fukuchi, but life with him, a poor unsuccessful writer, was also something of a struggle. ......

Thoughts from Tsugumi

"Yes, I'll write, and if I don't, people will say that Ofumi could only write Ramblings, and Ramblings is not all I am, and Ramblings is not all I am."

He repeated the same words twice, and I remember being deeply moved by his declaration, which was filled with determination, as if he were reminding himself and inspiring himself the second time. I was attracted to the lead actress, Takamine Hideko, who, as Mr. Kaji said, has a rich facial expression and a lot of passion, yet her performance is very natural and honest. I myself have recently been living my life with a strong will to make the most of everything! I have never been exposed to Japanese films of the 1960s, but I was empowered by the fact that in every era, there were people who lived desperately in the midst of various conflicts, relationships, and emotions, just as there are today. I was very much encouraged by this. I am glad that Mr. Kaji recommended this gut-boosting film to me, which I would not have had a chance to see if he had not recommended it to me.
